NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Washington Commanders defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has been indicted on two misdemeanor traffic charges in Tennessee after an accident that seriously injured another driver.

Haynesworth

District Attorney Kim Helper says Haynesworth faces charges of reckless driving and having expired registration.

Haynesworth, a former Titan who signed with the Commanders last month, was released after surrendering Wednesday. Maximum punishment is six months in jail and a $500 fine on the reckless driving charge and 30 days and a $50 fine for the other charge.

The charges come from a Dec. 13 incident in which police say Haynesworth was trying to pass another driver, who crashed into a concrete median.

Haynesworth's agent didn't immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment

you always need to be leary about guys who have career years during a contract year. Oh, and use opponents faces to get the mud out of their clears.:laugh1:

Not a great start for him with the Skins. Of course you know the vast majority of Skins fans are already doing their best to come up with way to minimize this and act as if it's no big deal.

According from that Article the incident happened in December.

Now I would imagine the skins FO knew about those issues before signing him.

I think some people might gloss over that article and think the incident happened after he signed with the skins.

I am cynical enough to believe that had Haynesworth re-signed with the Titans that this stuff would have went away.

Good luck finding a sympathetic jury in Tennessee! Better hope his lawyer can get him a plea agreement

Sensabaugh's trouble was in Tennessee also. Are they tougher about speeding and such more than others?

So what he did that in Dec, it was a non issue until he signed with Wash.

I got caught speeding b4 with no registration (which by the way is a fix it ticket) just show up to court with current registration and pay a small find......reckless driving cmon if it was that seriously how come they didn't indict LOOL indict him sooner....

When I saw indicted I thought he was in big trouble. He got a traffic ticket, for Christ sake, he wont be the first nor the last. BSPN really needs to report on sports stories.....

This just in Tony Romo QB of the Dallas Cowboys was pulled over for speeding , local police says he was going 42 in a 35 MPH zone and he also had a spot on his shirt and will be indicted with indecent exposure also.... BSPN really sucks...

Yep... Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane got their budget cut and they need to make up the difference...

His wreckless driving was him hitting a guy with his Ferrari causing him to hit a wall and leaving him unable to walk.

EDIT and he was on probation from 4 days before and never reported the accident to his PO

If McNair can get away with driving while blitzed Albert will get away with this.

But McNair was still a Titan at the time. :laugh1:

Is the guy crippled for life? Because that should have made a lot bigger story. Instead of "crickets".

When I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, I raced a guy from Nashville to Clarksville. A 45 minute drive done in 15 minutes. And I barely won. Oh the good ole day's...

Exactly. This isn't a simple case of driving 45 in a 35. If that were the case it would be a ticket and nothing more.

The serious part of this is the injury he caused while driving recklessly and then failure to report it to his PO.

I still doubt anything happens to him though. I don't know why I just don't have faith in them coming down on him like they should.

I say about $1million single unmarked bills handed to the other driver, and everyone will be just fine!
