anyone ever go there? i feel the need for some bbq by the lb for tonights draft effort.

i just went and got a sliced brisket sammich. to date, i'd rate it as one of the worst things i've put in my mouth outside college experiences. sliced brisket is just that, sliced. this was more like 2 chunks of pot roast tossed on a bun. i could pull each string of brisket away from each other, there was no "char" anywhere to be found and the browness of the meat did a great job of hiding the lack of a smoke ring. their cole slaw was flat and tasteless. on the bright side, i'd rate their unsweatened tea nicely and the pickles did in fact taste like pickles.

Thanks for the review. I like in CarrollAddiPlano but still somehow Dallas, and always looking for new bbq places. Think I'll skip fat cow.

well other people seem to LOVE it so maybe it's a hit and miss thing. but if i can't count on consistency, then it's of no use to me. the treatment of the brisket sounds like a few other reviews i saw on yelp and i thought they were just being overly critical. i had to yelp myself just not and put my review up there. brisket should be sliced, show a nice smoke ring, and have a gentle tug to it. this was more like it was cook like a roast with some mccormicks bbq seasoning tossed on.

my full yelp review. my 1st one there, so i thought it was fun. i may yelp more often. :)

i could pull each string of brisket away from each other, there was no "char" anywhere to be found and the browness of the meat did a great job of hiding the lack of a smoke ring. while i did see a non fired up smoker in a chain link prison, i doubt seriously it was used to cook the meat. kinda more like liquid smoke put on a brisket and put in a slow cooker.

i'm not sure how i was expected to eat this as a sammich because of the huge chunk of beef flavored product sitting between the bread. so i tossed the bread aside and just tried the meat itself. bad idea. at least the bread may have had some flavor to it. their bbq sauce was pretty good and covered up the fact the meat had as much flavor as diet water. i mean, when you suddenly crave the mcrib, you're having a very bad experience.

their cole slaw was flat and tasteless. i tried putting salt on it but the cole slaw seemed hell bent on hiding even the flavor of the salt. after 3-4 bites, i gave up.

on everything.

on the bright side, i'd rate their unsweatened tea nicely and the pickles did in fact taste like pickles.

Thanks for the review, I've driven past it couple times and thought about stopping. I'll be sure not to now

Depends on when you hit it.vthey tend to keep the meat on the fire til cutting to sell. Last 2 times I went the meat was dry cause of this

True. If you're ever in garland, there's a place called meshack's. It's literally a shack. You need to get there early for lunch, but thier brisket is great. Sides, not so much.

To me, you better have it all. If I want a good experience, spring creek. Good but not special.

About 6 mins from my house in N/W Gar. I rarely miss a month w/o a stop by there.

I even stopped by there once while passing by and picked-up a 1/2 brisket, 1/2 pork butt sammy for the road, even though I had 4 briskets on the smoker at home! lol

I guess we're neighbors. I live up by 161 and 78.
