Single CD? I dunno. As a kid, I lived, breathed, and slept Metallica. Probably 85% of the songs I can play on guitar are all Metallica. But if I had to name a favorite today, it would be a combination of three CDs

Slayer - South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss, and Reign in Blood. I listen to all three more than any other CD / other music I have. (no, I'm no devil man. They are just very good CDs)

All their other stuff after those three CDs just wasn't really up to snuff with those. They went down hill big time after Dave Lombardo left the band. He is back now and their newest CD is much better than the other stuff, but it's still nowhere near the class of those three.

Just an absolutely amazing album, that I still listen to with great regularity. If I had to pick just one record, that'd be it.

Back in the old days, Depeche Mode -- 101 would have been a strong contender as well, but that's more of a "greatest hits" which I suppose doesn't count, and I've kind of moved away from DM over the years.

If you are counting greatest hits albums, then Journey's Greatest Hits is one of the two albums (along with Disintegration) I'd take on a desert island with me.

Just get the double Slayer CD Decade of Aggression...it pretty much has all of the best songs from those three slayer CDs you talked about.

Disintegration was an awesome album. I haven't heard it in years though. During the same time 'The Queen is Dead' by The Smiths was also great.

Very, very good choice.

I'm not sure how people can choose just one. There is just no way I could...but I'm listening to "Mommy's Little Monster" by Social Distortion right now, so I'll just go with that.
