Favorite and Worst First Round Pick all time

Does 2004 count where we traded down and passed on Steven Jackson?
Think that was the most livid I've ever been watching the draft.

Favorite one that I remember probably was Roy Williams. (Not including picks where I was a kid and had no clue what was going on lol)

Favorite was THE First, first round pick. Bob Lilly A very close second would be Roger Staubach. Hall of Fame QB taken in the 10th round. That's a great pick.

Worst, I'd also probably have to go with Rod Hill. A very close second would have to be Shante Carver. He signaled the end of Dominance for the Cowboys in the 90s, for me.

He is not my favorite Cowboys' player but the draft pick that excited me most when it was made was Troy Aikman. Just the feeling of knowing that we had drafted a potential franchise QB had me pumped.

The worst draft pick in my opinion was Morris Claiborne. Not only did he stink for us and stay injured but we traded up for him by throwing in our 2nd round pick (#45). Our 14th pick we gave away was used on Michael Brockers and our 45th pick we gave away was used on Alshon Jeffery. I would have taken either one of those guys over Claiborne in a heartbeat. Claiborne is an example of what happens when you don't properly scout a player (we didn't have him in as one of the 30 pre-draft visits) and he only scored a 4 out of 50 on the wonderlic test. Can someone really be that stupid?

c'mon man...Zeke as the worst?

Least favorite at the time. A lot of that has to do with the value of the pick used. Messing up a top 5 pick is much bigger than missing a pick in the 20s.

Zeke is better then I thought he would be, so I've come around a bit. I just don't think you draft a RB that high, especially one with maturity issues.

oh ok, I get it now...it was more of a value pick for you, Ramsey may have been the better pick value wise, but you can't argue that Zeke isn't the better fit for us.

Favorite - Troy Aikman! Still remember that gb Qb going nuts to win the last game of the year which gave us the #1 pick.

Worst - Hands down Greg Ellis! Passing on Randy Moss ruined my whole cowboy life!

Right there with you. That draft forever changed my perspective. I still love the draft and enjoy watching every year but, part of my draft fanaticism died that day.
