Jerry Scheff played bass for The Doors album L.A. Woman. Jim was excited to learn he was getting Elvis' bass player for the session.
yeah...I didnt know he played with the doors til I read it in one of my Elvis books.
The song...LA Woman has an Elvis vibe to it...especially the drum beat.
Too bad Elvis didnt cover some doors tracks...bet Jerry tried tho.
Hands down my favorite Elvis bass player.
Scheff was the best....listen to Elvis' version of Polk Salad Annie.

Most of my favs have already been mentioned, but I gotta add Tina Weymouth, her bass just drove those Talking Heads songs. Great stuff!

Any list of great bass players cannot be taken seriously without including Larry Graham

Gotta throw in Stanley Clarke too.

ready for this one..........Elvis.
thats right.....and you all have heard it.
the opening bass part on the classic movie tune...You're So Square,Baby I Don't Care...from his classic film Jailhouse Rock.
His bass player Bill Black tried and tried on electric bass to hit that part and he couldn't...got so mad he yelled Damn It and slid the bass across the floor.....Elvis walks over...picks it up....says "let me try it"...tape is rolling......Elvis nailed it on the 1st take.
True story.
and he never missed a chance to rub it in on his buddy Bill Black.
