Favorite beer?

Depends on the mood.

Guinness

Michelob light or ultra

Modelo w/lime when down south.

A good ale from a brewery is always best when up north..

My favorite used to be the Pete's Wicked Winter brew, but I don't think they make it anymore. They don't appear to sell Pete's here in VA, so I haven't had any/seen any in 3-4 years.

Otherwise it's Shiner, Yuengling...or Bud Light if I just want a "lawn mowing" beer.

Stella Artois, Kronenbourg1664 and when slumming it, Molson Export

Kronebourg is absolutely fantastic beer. I had neglected it up until a while ago, bought a sixer and was floored with the flavor of it.

Tried some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale earlier today and enjoyed it. Has a pretty strong hop flavor, but it doesn't stick around too long and has a kind of cistrusy-finish. Very tasty.

Also picked up some Arrogant ******* Ale. Haven't tried that yet, but will keep you informed.

That is a great great beer! Had quite a few on my last trip to P.A. It really is a shame that I can not get that stuff out here in So-Cal. Damn looking at that pic is making me angry that I can not get any of that fine stuff right now. That really is a good beer!

I said I would update when I tried the Arrogant ******* Ale. Well, I tried it.

As the bottle says, "I'm not worthy". It's just too strong for me. I can handle a real bitter beer as long as it doesn't finish with the bitterness. In other words, if there's going to be a real bitter flavor, it needs to be early in the drinking process and not at the end.

It tastes like you're smacking yourself in the face with a grapefruit.

I guess I'm not recommending the stronger Double ******* then.

Beer snob is an oxymoron.

A snob would turn their nose up at cheap beer -- I have no problem with the cheap stuff -- I'm happy to suck PBR or Coors cans on a hot day.

There is a huge difference between being a snob and recognizing that there is an amazing variety of great beer out there. Beer ain't like wine -- where the difference between good and bad can run $40+ a bottle. You can get a case of great beer usually for under $25. What is that, far less than a dollar a bottle difference between the good and the bad?

You'd pay an extra dollar for a better hamburger right? Pay an extra $5 for a better cut of meat for the grill, right? So what's the problem with wanting a better beer?

I didn't realize this until just recently. I mean, I just drank my Miller Lite and occasionally went for something a little more "upscale" with a non-light Budweiser or something. Now that I've started sampling the various beers that are out there and doing a lot of reading on http://www.beeradvocate.com , I've come to realize that man, there is an amazing difference between all the various types of beers.

At first, most beers seem a little strong, but you really do acquire a taste. At this point, I'm pretty good with the stronger beers, but I'm still not up to the double IPAs or the Double *******-like items. I'm sure I'll get there eventually though.

Abita makes some really good beer. Whenever I'm in New Orleans for business I make sure to get an Abita Amber or Turbodog. Sierra Nevada Pale ale is another beer I like.

I'll probably get **** on hard by the beer afficianados but I picked up a six pack of Miller Chill and have enjoyed it as a change of pace.

I actually don't mind a Chill or two, but after that they get too sweet for me and I have to switch to something else.

Negra Modelo
Abita Amber
Shiner Bock
Blackhook Porter
