Favorite Leftovers

Pizza, cold of course. :D

Oh and I just had some cold pork ribs that I grilled yesterday. That was some tasty stuff too. I definitely like leftover grilled items.

I would have to say...Meatloaf! It makes a great sandwich! The second would be cold pizza followed closely by left over wilted salad. :)

What the hell? That's freaking nasty! :laugh2:

Are you referring to salad that has been left out too long and wilted or the kind that is created by pouring hot bacon grease over it. I love that type of wilted lettuce.

As far as foods that are common in the US, Thanksgiving leftover is my favorite.

The hot bacon grease kind. Here's a hint. let the salad stay in the fridge till the grease becomes thick. Then it makes a great sandwich with a little salt and pepper. :)

If pizza counts that works. My wife eats it cold but I can't stand it like that. So I get out the Goerge Foreman grill and warm it that way. It really changes the way it tastes.

I'm right there along with your wife. I love cold pizza. I have hot pizza at night then cold pizza in the morning (if my husband doesn't eat it all first).

I've got to toss my hat in the ring with the spaghetti and meatloaf crowds....

I have no earthly idea why spaghetti tastes better the next day, but it does.

Meatloaf sandwiches? Yes please! Throw some cheese on that puppy and grill it up.

I'd have to go for a really good indian lamb curry (Lamb Roganjosh).

The thread title needs changed to "If you were stranded in a desert and had to eat leftovers............... :p:

Any kind of a slow braised meat dish like a roast.

Close 2nd and 3rd are cold pan-fried chicken or pork chops.

These are best if you take them out of the fridge, let them sit for about 20-30 mins so they come closer to room-temp, then devour with a couple of pieces of butter-bread fold-overs. 'Course, that takes willpower, and I rarely make it past the 5 minute mark. :D

This or any type of dish that has marinated in a sauce all night.

I love meatloaf sandwiches. That was a great call, who ever said that.

Nothing wrong with Enchiladas but we usually have Flat and not rolled or casserole.

I'll tell you what I love but most of you are probably going to laugh. When you cook up a pot of beans and Ham Hocks, I love to take the beans and make refritos for breakfast. Basically, you take the beans, put them in a frying pan, add bacon grease, fry them up until they start to thicken, add just a bit of milk and they crisp up nicely. They are great! I love them with bacon, Eggs and Papa's with a little bit of chopped green chili.

I bet you put green chilis on your green chilis :laugh2:

I do this all the time too, 'cept for the milk. I add salsa instead.

I do a thing I call "Tex-Mex Eggs Benedict"

  1. Roughly crushed tortilla chips are the bottom layer.
  2. Then 2-3 heaping spoons of the "refried" beans.
  3. Next 2 poached eggs. I prefer mine w/ a mostly runny yolk.
  4. Top that with either guacamole and//or salsa verde or chopped green chillies.
  5. Finish with a spoon of your favorite salsa.
  6. Eat, fart & fall down!
