Who are your favorite realistic options at 26 that the Cowboys are tied to? Mine below.

- Will McDonald
- Emmanuel Forbes
- Jordan Addison
- Darnell Wright
- Brian Branch
- Drew Sanders
I'm all in on will McDonald and think that's who they take barring a drop

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
Wright
McDonald
Forbes
Sanders

In that order.

Mayer is a pass for me until round 2. He looks like a round 2 player to me that’s getting pushed into round 1 because of college production and not actual athletic upside that warrants a 1st for a TE.
Same but Ill add Skoronski. Likely an OG and seems to be slipping, but would a Frederick/Martin level impact.

Im with you on Sanders as far as appeal, but it seems he is viewed as a 2nd rounder. He is a guy I would sacrifice a 3rd to move up for. Seems like a cross between prime Anthony Barr and Bruce Irvin. Thats a pretty good football player. I could see teams not seeing a fit, he may only be for certain teams ( like us). As a pure edge, you may not see enough to warrent a top 30, and as a LB he may be too raw. But we would use him as both, maximizing his ability

I do consider him worthy of 26 though

Only one thing anyone around here should know for sure….

No matter what the team actually does, some people are going to defend it to the death, and others will hate it and trash the FO.

That’s about all that can be predicted in advance quite accurately.

100%.

If they go skill player, people will be upset about the trenches.

If they go trenches they will complain about who was left.

If it’a Mayer they will complain about the upside lol

I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of picking Mayer, but it wouldn’t be a terrible selection.

I think I just want to add a stud OL to this team so badly that I’m a little down on not doing it at 26, but like your other post, don’t go reaching for it. So….my greatest hope for day one….a tackle slides. Could happen.

Personally I like Washington’s upside if it HAS to be TE, but Mayer is the safer pick. I also think Washington is way gone by 26 and it’s all moot.

Also it’s important to remember that the draft has to be looked at as a whole, not just Thursday, but that sets the tone…

As an example of what I mean in this case…take Mayer Thursday, and LaPorta is sitting there at 58 on Friday, you can’t even consider him.

This team hasn’t had a great history of TE drafting no matter who is running the show.

My top 5 for offense (assuming Bijan is gone )would be JSN, Kincaid, Wright, Gibbs, and Mayer. On defense it would be McDonald, Kancey, Sanders, Forbes, and Banks.
