:thumbup:I've done the complete Wolff refurb spring kit on that sig 220,and pretty much retired it,as I was seeing signs of stress fractures on the inside rails of that roll stamped steel upper slide,,,that .22 hornet kinda got edged out of market share by that .22 magnum rimfire& it's a shame too!,,,I've a pistol barrel clambered in a .270 REN/wildcat ,that blows that tapered .22 hornet cartridge case to straight wall configuration & seat 90 gr. .270 win projo's , it just has enough 'oompah' to topple over the steel ram targets at 200 meters,at 100 yds it literally leaves a 'pink mist' in the scopes sight picture when you connect on varmints:lmao:

*Those 168 Sierra match kings are what I loaded my M-1 garand with& I'm in the market for another one:)

Got 3 Garands like them almost as much as 1911s . Shot competitively with it for years at our club we had a Garand league started by the WW2 veterans that founded our club. Now they changed it to a military rifle league and everyone shoots ARs so I got out of it , but before I did that Winchester Garand shot the best offhand open sighted target in club history with a GI barrel given to me by a Navy Veteran that had his ship Kamikazed in WW2 and survived So at least I got that in before the black guns took over LOL.

47.5 IMR 4895 Topped with a 168 Match King . was my load remember getting Match Kings for $14 per 100. Got a tanker Garand chambered in 308 which is a really neat gun.

Never did silhouettes with the hand gun but won the states with my M1A in the service rifle class one year. Hit 2 rams that didn't go down 168s splattered golf ball size right in the middle and I had them loaded up hot enough I was afraid of bending the OP Rod . Good Times

Right-on,Brother Man!
Awesomely cool story on the history,,,, I'd met a couple of brothers in that steel silhouette 'click' that were a regular riot to be around & crack a couple of beers with afterwards,,,,the more 'better known' of the two was in the south pacific in WW11 & they were in 'lights out' mode patrolling the "
slot",,, and John was on duty Manning a 20mm AA gun & around midnight he said this Japanese twin engine bomber flew thru,,,:lmao: he said he could see " the goomer googles on this jap " kicking out flare pots" from the side of the airplane,said that big 'red meatball emblem was backlit & plain as the nose on yer' face,,,:lmao2: he said he " let rip" on it& it wasn't 15 seconds later the whole ships P.A. system lit up & sounded off with the ship's captain pretty adamant about " having that soon to be guest of the brig forever S.O.B. standing on his bridges quarterdeck within 5 min.,,,:lmao: John actually said he'd seriously considered just jumping overboard in the dark night rather than face that captain's wrath,,,,he said he was about 3/4's of the way to the bridge when the C.I.C. p.a. went shipboard with " splash down,splash down,,,nip plane in the water",,,, that Captain just said,,,"DAMN FINE SHOOTING, SON",,,,then later had a 20mm mounted over the bridge and that was Johns general quarters post ever since that night :thumbup:

* I remember when those tanker 'garands'& Italian BM-59's were readily available:thumbup:

My personal preference is Dewalt. It's what I have sitting out in the garage. They seem to be an exceptional brand and I have had no issues with them.

How about you?

Especially after you've been drinking!!! They say alcohol kills brain cell, but naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of alcohol eliminates the weaker brain cells, thus making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.
Cliff? Is that you?

I have trained my brain cells and have volunteers for a suicide mission set up before I start imbibing. It's usually the ones that accidentally saw some reality tv show.

When I was building my M1A I got a lot of parts from Fulton Armory but I think you would have to get a standard Garand Op rod cut it down and weld the hardened tip on it for the tanker lucky being shorter makes it stiffer and less chance of bending .

Great story about your buddie those men saved the world I have the ultimate in respect for them and have tried to soak up every piece of wisdom they imparted on me sadly there are very few left at our club now .

Yes,sir! They were getting fewer by the flipping of the calendars centerfolds back in the '90's',,,,man,alive! ,,,I'd 'met' an old Canadian commando from WW11 just a couple of miles down the road from me,who was just about a "world class" machinist with his metal lathes,drills& presses he'd set up on his property,,, he'd of turned out " to specs" any firearm parts you could ask for,,,, he went & "gone country" about 6 months AFTER I'd met this CAT,,,,HIS FATHER WAS SOME EUROPEAN artillery designing Eisenstein,that went to work for the Canadian government after WW1,,,He was either Swiss or Swedish,,, but, he had them BLUE EYE'S
