I think there is tons of value here in round 2.

I'd prefer Felix Jones of those listed because I think he serves the best use for Dallas as a every 3rd series guy.

I think we "assume" Dallas wants a 3rd down back and I find that very hard to believe. Barber is excellent on 3rd downs as a rusher and blocker as well as screen guy.

I suspect we want a guy who can run a series without too much drop off. So the guy needs to be able to emulate Barber to some extent as opposed to merely providing a burst.

I might be tempted to take Felix Jones at 28 if we do not trade that pick and then select say CJ or Jamaal Charles at the bottom of round 2 as the specialist guy and speed back.

Normally that's crazy but I like our OL depth already and this is a pathetic Wr class imho.

Ray Freakin Rice!!!

That's my main choice for round 2... but there's no way he'll be there at our pick. We'd have to move up significantly to get him. Jerry has talked about "bundeling", so perhaps he will move up in the second to get Rice.

If CB and WR are addressed in round 2 and McFadden, Mendenhall, and Stewart are all off the board by pick #61, which one of the following would you select assuming all were available(and you had to go RB):

Chris Johnson, East Carolina
Felix Jones, Arkansas
Jamaal Charles, Texas
Kevin Smith, Central Florida
Ray Rice, Rutgers
Steve Slaton, West Virginia
Matt Forte, Tulane
Other (who?)

I'd take Charles because I think he's got the speed, wiggle, power and durability...the fumbling can be corrected.
Smith would be my First Choice, He's a better pass catcher then my second choice, Ray Rice. A Sleeper could Be Tashard Choice from Geogia Tech who I believed the Cowboys spoke to.

Ray Rice and its not even close.

Chris Johnson has a lot of talent and could end up being amazing if he is coached up.

.

I guess I lump Felix, CJ, and Charles together with prefernce on order depending on who is ranking them. I think any of the 3 could take a series from MB3 without drop-off once they have acclimated to the NFL. The question for me is whether they could take an entire game---and like most here, I agree that they would not draft them expecting that.

Felix won't be there in the second round.

I'm assuming you mean the end of round 2...I'm sure several of them won't be there

I think he will fall into the second round as well.

That's my top 3. I think I'd have Rice ahead of Kevin Smith, but other than that I agree.

My top 3 of that list would be Charles, Rice, and Forte.

For the one who asked about Charles. Well, he had more than just one decent year. He had 3 good years, with his last being outstanding for the most part.

I like Forte of the guys who will probably be there... Though he's probably more like a 3rd round guy.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone is so enamored with Charles for? One decent year. I guess we have a lot of UT fans here. Slaton is way better than this dude.

Me, too. And a lot of other teams but you can't ignore his speed.

I agree JT. Jones is going to be able to shoulder more of the load than people think. I see him doing what Bush did. McAlister got his but so did Bush. Ditto MB and Jones. I don't see a lot of difference in Johnson and Jones. I think Jones may be better is space but Johnson is good as well maybe not as dramatically. I think Johnson may be more of a complete back. Either one will do fine. And I wouldn't mind having both. In fact I'd love it. But they need to take a chance on a WR despite the fact this is a seemingly pitiful WR bunch with none being a sure fire first round pick.

Charles is my favorite RB in the draft at this point. I feel like the cost on him is fairly low. He could be a first round back but since this draft is so deep he could be a steal. He is the one that I want.
