For me it would be the bone in ribeye, the "cowboy" steak. Lots of fat marbled in there for flavor.

A liberal application of kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper and it's grill time!

bone out ribeye for me! grilling some this Saturday!

question: what's the best time to go to walmart (yes, I know it's not awesome quality there haha) to get a steak? as in, what time do they put out the fresh cut steaks? I guess I've gotten lucky the past few various times I've been in there but I wanna make this a science rather than luck

Try this technique of cooking your next really thick slab of meat. You won't be sorry!

No Walmarts near me, so I don't have solid evidence, but I'd guess the turnover there is so high that you are pretty much guaranteed fresh every time you go. If in doubt, ask one of the guys at the meat counter.

If you want flavor, just cook it in Worcestershire sauce.

Why not get a porterhouse and you get the best of both worlds (flavor vs. tenderness)?

A medium well sirloin?

Might as well eat a hamburger.

I was a vegetarian for 5 years before I met my wife.

But I'll have a chicken fried steak, please. :laugh2:

Things might have changed, but years ago Walmart started outsourcing their meat departments to avoid unionization within the stores. They come prepacked from a secondary purveyor.

When I'm getting serious about a grilling like aside from whipping up something for myself and the gf, I go solely to these guys online. Never been disappointed.

They'll put your local meat market to shame. I cannot recommend the wet-aged filet mignons highly enough. If you want the same quality you'll have at the highest end steakhouses, your best bet is Allen Bros. Take it from someone in the restaurant business.

Retail therapy is good for the soul, according to Capital One.

These bad boys right here are where its at.

I've been wanting to pick up a few packs of their crowned filets to give them a try also.

We've been running the braised lamb shanks as specials at the store in the winter months. Great seller. The meat falls off the bone which actually is a bit of a problem for presentation. We started selling it on a bed of lobster risotto but ended up putting the shank itself inside of a serving boat.
