Favre speaks very highly of Mike Jenkins...

My only beef with Mike is that he needs to stop giving recievers easy catches. He's too good to be playing off 7 yards on 1st and 10.

Maybe because they call different coverage and do not just run the bump and run coverages. Jenkins gets up on the line quite a bit but yes he backs off as well depending on what the coaches are calling

I think he is still secretly a Cowboys fan.

I heard him say on TV the other day that he grew up a Cowboys fan.

Mike Jenkins is going to have his hands full, but I'm sure he'll embrace the challenge anfd have another great game. He's a great corner already and will be for a long time.

Good point. I'm actually worried about this match up. Even though Scandrick has been playing better as of late, I still don't have much confidence in him.

Yeah, no doubt. Newman on Sidney Rice is a pretty even match-up. Jenkins on Bernard Berrian goes in our favor, but the Scandrick/Harvin battle definitely favors Minnesota. Scandrick has really picked up his game the past month hasn't he? I hope he keeps it up.

I think Favre is going to pick on Scandrick a lot. Scandrick/Percy Harvin is a huge matchup not many of us have talked about. If Scandrick has a great game, I like our chances.

Harvin is good but he's inexperienced and not as polished as Steve Smith(NYG) who worked Scandrick silly. It's a key matchup but I'm more worried about Harvin on gadget/trick plays. I'm sure they've got at least 1-2 they're going to try.

Scandrick has been tackling great lately, but he is playing against a Steve Smith *Carolina*, Devin Hester type. You are right, that is probrably a bigger matchup than Newman or Jenkins.

Yup, I gotta throw in Sensabaugh/Carpenter on Shiancoe as well. I think if we win the battles with Harvin and Shiancoe, Dallas will head to the NFC Championship.

I like Jenkins. And I agree with Favre. But I don't understand why everyone keeps calling him the best corner on the team when Newman is the one guarding the opposing teams best receiver for the majority of the game?

I remember before our '04 game up there... Newman had had a so-so game before, got beaten a time or two (which was rare then) and Favre was sayign he was a great player and he was sure he'd bounce back strong the next week. All he did was work TN all day in probably the worst game Newman has ever played. (We learned later he was playing hurt, but anyway.)

So who knows.

But I think SP is right. In fact, I think the whole game may turn on Favre forcing it to Rice even when he's covered and whether or not our corners can make the play.

How's that the case? We don't switch our corners, we keep them on their individual sides. If your best WR plays on the left then Jenkins covers him for that day.

If we get to face the Colts in the superbowl, Jenkins would be on Reggie Wayne all day.

Actually Sidney Rice would have the advantage. But we have the advantage on the pass rush, so if Ware and Spencer can take care of business it can help to nullify Rice's advantage over Scandrick.

I thought in the first Eagles game Newman followed Jackson all over the field. I may be wrong though.

I think the coaching staff trusts Jenkins more now though.

Farve is such a cool old man

Yes, and he can really wear a pair of Wranglers. Does anyone have a picture of him with his shirt off? You know, for a friend?

He was definitely following him on McNabb's overthrown pass...and not too closely, I might add.

Don't eat the cheese fellas - Favre thinks he can attack you, and he's trying to butter you up with high praise. If I were you, I'd take that as an insult. Prepare from there! DBs on 3! :D

Very kind words of praise by Favre. Hopefully he tests Jenkins a couple times in this game and Jenkins makes him pay with a couple picks. A pick six for Jenkins in this game would be beautiful.
