Though in soiling his name, they shed light on their own dirt..

Despite interviewees saying that they did not personally like Jobs, many still said that they would recommend him for a position in government. One section said, “It was [redacted] opinion that honesty and integrity are not required qualities to hold such a position.”

Now who would want people with those qualities in high government positions?

Huh? He invented nothing. (PC, MP3 player, smartphone, Unix based operating system, all existed before him) His best trait was marketing and drive. The only thing he changed was Apple.

The Oceans used to have a purple hue before he changed it and erased the memory from eveyone's mind.

I don't quite get all this fascination with Steve Jobs. I probably own some shares of Apple through my mutual funds but I've never purchased even one Apple product. Although, my wife is hinting that she would like an ipad for her birthday in April.

I do thank Steve Jobs for all his stores in the mall where I can use the internet for free while I am waiting for my wife to finish shopping.:)

I don't see how you can say he didn't "change" the world. Even the haters have to give him the fact that he had a hand in technology, and how we use it.

I suppose it depends on your definition of "changing" the world.

The hatred of him alone has probably driven up sales of non-Apple smartphones. it certainly created the image of anti-Apple for Android and Google. And as some say, image is everything.

Thats a good point. I never thought of it from that angle, but I think you're right. Some people won't even give his products a chance because it is cool to be "anti-apple".

Oh well. I wouldn't trade my apple products, until someone makes something better.

I call this the "Ragu Effect".

Ragu Effect
Someone who continues to use / eat inferior products because they've never tried a better one which would have made them realize they are eating / using ****.

You actually have to try something else to know if it's better. ;) :p:

How did he do anything to change I had a Blackberry the first smart phone way before the iphone all the iphone did was make it hip for the non corporate people to have one. Did a great job on the touch screen interface but touch screen has been around a long time.

I had a Pocket phone around 2002 maybe.. All smartphones today are a knockoff of that which was an attempt to make the Palm Pilot type devices also a phone.

Imagine that. A sales man who "distorts" reality in order to sell stuff.

Are Apple products good? Sure.

Are they worth the money? HELL NO!

The iPod is probably the most overrated product of all time. There are probably a dozen comparable mp3 players out there for way cheaper.

I have an 8 gig sony mp3/video player that I've had for 4 years. Use it while working out and doing landscaping (mowing/weedwhacking). It's got some scrapes and whatnot but still has a battery life of about 6 hours. I paid $79...the newest comparable iPod - nano - is hard to find for less than about $120.

The new CEO of JCPenney, Ron Johnson is the guy that made Apple huge. He pioneered the concept of Apple stores.
"Under Johnson's direction, Apple's retail stores achieved a record level of growth, exceeding a billion dollars in annual sales within two years of their debut, besting the previous record set by The Gap"

Steve Jobs get a lot of credit, but Apple had several people that made it what it is today. Ron Johnson was definitely a big reason the company stands where it does now. He also went to Target and revamped that company.

There is nothing that says you have to know somebody to form an opinion on them. We judge figures in history based on far less information then we have about Jobs, regardless of knowing him personally or not. Just a thought.
