Will be plenty of time to tear the bejeezus out of him if he's crap.

Im hoping that at least his time management will be better than MM's.. and maybe he will have a plan B at half-time if things aren't going well. MM seemed to stick with plan A no matter what was happening.

Exactly , would be nice to see them switch to plan b and it works lol.
Alot of things to look at and judge shotty on.

And keep in mind it took Jimmy 3 years to field a team that won enough to get in playoffs.

also I want to see the cowboys look like they know what they are doing, and I havent seen that much
the past decade.

Instead of doing what was necessary, this team stuck with the HC. Fine. Yet they did absolutely nothing to improve the team for him. They sandbagged him just to prove a point? It is nonsensical how that transpired. Then they leave CeeDee sitting at home until the end of training camp, make the fan base think they are moving on from Dak, just to steal the headlines the day of the season starting. More of the same of "we like our guys" instead of letting Dak go find a new team and drafting a QB this year or next. (Risk aversion)

Then comes the disaster that was last season. They blame injuries, dont bring the coach back (after denying the request of the Bears to speak with him) and decide to start over. Ok good.

But wait, now the laziness creeps in. They bring in a few other guys to satisfy a certain rule, and then walk down the hallway and interview the OC who was in charge of one of the worst performing offenses in football last season.

They announce a guy with no HC experience, spin it to be a great idea, and bobs your uncle.

How does this make sense? You are the Dallas Cowboys. Was 10 years of Garrett learning on the job not enough?

So cue the new head coach coming in changing "the culture" with a smashmouth approach to running the football. Ok. Thats refreshing. Now FA starts and they sign Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams. Ok fine, I will wait until the draft and see what happens.

Now here comes the trifecta of a bad front office.

Lazy, risk averse, and fear all took place on day one of the draft. I don't care what anyone says, drafting another OL in the first round was foolish, lazy, and reeked of "we don't want to mess this up".

I am sick of hearing that players are reaches. If you drafted Hampton, or Golden, or Ebuka, or or or at 12 and it was your guy, who cares. He turns out to be a star you look like a genius, he doesnt, you look like you dont know what you are doing (no one believes you do anyways) so why not take the chance? Instead we get Booker who while he is a fantastic player, was not a need in any way shape or form. Hoffman played well and Dowdle once he was the starter and Zeke was benched was one of the top back in the game. It is pure laziness and fear.

Second round comes, again, great player and I wont even harp on this pick, but the reason he was picked is because the Cowboys thought one of the Ohio State RBs would fall to them. As soon as Henderson was picked, rumours started being floated about the Cowboys wanting to trade down. Panic at the Star apparently. More fear.

I am not mad about the draft, the picks, or the players. I am mad that this FO has shown no hunger, no will, and no risk taking to improve. They are content on staying status quo, being relevant, and blaming anyone but themselves on why this team fails year after year. Who is Dak throwing to? Who is carrying the load at RB? These questions still aren't answered and the OTAs start in 2 weeks.

I wont bother going on because its clear what I am trying to say.

Our front office is our biggest obstacle to being relevant in the playoffs.

Stop saying things like this.

Jimmy came from being a champion, built championship teams in college and played a brand of football.

Schotty has none of that on his resume and has a HC position now because the Cowboys and lazy Jerry were the only people in 20 years willing to offer him the job.

People need to stop trying to find comparisons between Jimmy and new coaches. There’s none.

Hence why no HC has been successful here in 30 years.

You can post positively and be the Pom Pom waver this team loves.

Schotty hasn’t even commanded a top ten offense in his career.

Now he’s going to be a great HC? lol. Come on guys. Stop grasping at straws.
 
Good and true post. Jerry tells us what he is thinking and doing if you just look and listen. He used the term "hanging around the rim" to me he told us that as long as we are relevant, as long as he can keep us competitive the team will keep generating money with false hope. That is why he brings back Dak regardless of salary. Dad is a very good QB not great but good enough to keep us around the rim. Winning championships is not the goal it is running a successful buisness and by staying relevant that is what he does so he can hook the fan base with hope that we are a step away.

Good post

What I learned a while back that makes it easier is to just lower your expectations to having some good football to watch like we had in 2016 went Dak and Zeke where rookies we could run the ball and it was fun to watch most of the time.
That said our goals as fans to win a Super bowl are different than the Jones boys who are satisfied to follow the lines of least resistance to the bank.

If postseason success happens on the way to the bank great if not they are still getting rich and that seems to keep them comfortable and the fans in a frustrated state of turmoil.

Yes offensive line was a safe pic but it will also protect and greatly help our quarterback of the future as they should be in their absolute prime by the time he gets here.

Lots of question marks with the new coaching staff but his father loved to run the ball and it looks like the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree which in my mind is a good thing.
Because when we can run the ball it covers a multitude of sins and gives us decent football to watch at this point that's all I ask for

deep postseason success is just a bridge too far with the Joneses running the team.
 
I follow the Cowboys, I don’t think I missed the game in how many years I can’t remember, “maybe one in 10 years. But it’s not the same, I’m watching, but I’m not expecting to win. The culture , Mr.cowboy . where have all the Cowboys gone, that’s what’s missing in my opinion. I don’t know what or who’s at fault or why,
it just seems different with the new head, coach, let’s just hope.
Or it could just be me wishing again.

Post of your entire life, I usually skim through the long posts on here, but something told me to read all of this, nothing else needs to be said!!!!
 
No one is forcing me to be a fan of the Cowboys and I have been one for 30+ years. I look forward to the possibility that we will get back to our post season winning ways. But I won't allow myself to wallow in abject misery or bitter disappointment when we lose games or fail to achieve whatever competitive milestone. Venting is understandable as long as it doesn't turn into posting mockery or hostility against reasonable members with differing opinions.

The made a mistake trading up to draft Morris Claiborne. Never trade up again, ever?

They made a mistake again drafting Taco Charlton in the first round. And again, drafting Mazi Smith. Will they never draft a DT in the first again?

If fear of making a mistake has control of this team, then they are doomed as a franchise.

Proof is in the pudding.

They havent paid an outside FA since Carr.

They havent traded up since Claiborne when there was reason to.

They just spent late round picks on the deepest DT draft we have seen in a long time when we cant stop the run.

What more proof do you need?
