We may not beat the Giants, but I think we should. Why?
Our team is SCARY good, especially our O. Think about it from a defense's stand-point. Who scares you?
1) T.O.--he's too dynamic, gotta know where he is every play
2) Romo--if you blitz, he makes you pay with his elusiveness
3) Barber--no one wants to tackle this guy
4) Our Oline--it's big, angry, and u-g-l-y they ain't got not alibi
5) Witten--Just too good, and a tough mofo
6) Julius--can't leave him alone in the flats and on screens
Now, Crayton, Fasano, Anderson, Hurd don't scare too much...but this is a lot of things to keep juggling for any defense. You gotta identify two key receivers and respect the run EVERY PLAY while being afraid to blitz. And, as shown, our OLine wears people out!
For comparison, the Giants--Scary? Not as much
1) Burress--Same as TO
2) Shockey--not quite Witten, but we'll call it even
3) Eli--solid but not scary good (you want to blitz him and he's best at pay action)
4) Jacobs--scary because he's huge, but not much threat to break a long one and I'm positive more people fear Barber than the always-gimpy Jacobs
5) Oline--very good, but not brute like ours
Ward/Droughns is no comparison to Julius
Toomer, et al are a toss up
From a D perspective, you play to stop the run, while doubling Burress with deep help. If you stop the run, you stop play action. You blitz and scare Eli on 3rd and long. He has a history of looking like a deer-in-the-headlights much more than Romo (who excels in pressure)
They can tick and tack elsewhere, but it requires long drives that are more difficult to sustain.
We're scary--Scary good. And the Giants will be very afraid if we score on the fist couple drives after giving up 45 last time. Start strong and capitalize on our big advantage--FEAR!
