I used to love watching this guy fight in the early 2000's. He was a beast back then, and it sucked that the UFC and Pride were separate entities at the time, but the UFC HW division was kind of garbage back then.

With all of that said, he is a shell of his former self. I recently watched him get KOd by Matt Mitrione and it was kind of sad. He's only been able to beat has-beens and tomato cans. He should just hang it up.

Seems like for many fighters, once they get knocked out, it gets easier to knocked out again. I don't know if its physiological, psychological or just their opponents watching tape. Fedor, Liddell and Rousey are the first to come to mind.

Don't forget Anderson Silva.

He has gone way downhill for sure but to be honest, IMO, he was always highly over-rated in the first place.

He was always a good fighter but I never really thought of him as great.

Fedor was undoubtedly the best HW in the world at one time. ~2002-8
He was strong enough to submit Randleman and Coleman.
He outstruck Semmy Schilt--K1 kick boxing champ.
He has beaten IIRC 5 former UFC HW champs.

He was the first of the Jon Jones beat you are your game types.

But Fedor was never the fit, hard-training type that would age well.
And he really went downhill fast.
He had a semi-retirement that might as well have been permanent because he's been awful since.
MMA has improved by leaps and bounds and Fedor has aged poorly.

Mitrione is an example of the improvement of MMA. Guy was a legit NFL caliber athlete.
We've moved well beyond tough guys that know how to fight.

Fedor destroyed Big Nog twice, who was considered the best fighter in the world at the time. It seems a little raw and dated now, but back then, he was a world beater.
