felix jones has no rushing touchdowns and marion barber only has 3. Do our rushing offense suck this bad.

Shows that neither is a true #1 back. I know a lot of folks say the line has issues and they do, but neither Jones or Barber are a #1. Felix was picked over Mendenhall and Chris Johnson to provide a "change of pace", which means, 10-12 touches. Not 20 plus which is what a #1 should get. Barber is beat down and should be replaced NOW.

okay so the question is if mark ingram test good at the combine and we have pick 7-12 do we pick him in that range if most likely the 2 tops cb's are gone and maybe no offensive lineman is worthy of being drafted around those picks.
or
Do we just go with Felix and Choice(who was a work horse at GT) and cut or trade barber (4th or 5th round draft pick).

If we take a RB early in the draft, we'll be a dumb as the Lions who stockpiled WRs. Our backs are capable behind a better line and a better scheme.

We don't draft a RB in this coming draft. We play our former number one pick who is in his prime. We draft the BPA at a position of need unless a very exceptional player drops to us.

Yes it does suck that bad. I heard on a radio show a few days back [can't remember which one] said that our rushing average is 3 yards per game [85] less than it was in 1989 [88] when we were 1-15...or maybe it's opposite, we are 3 yards better.

I was driving home, changing channels for news, and stopped on that station in the middle of the conversation. But anyway, overall, that's pretty bad.

Idiotic post

Read this and wake up
Garrett has moved the Cowboys closer to their true ceiling, but a debilitating ceiling nonetheless exists. The offense has struggled throughout the four years that Garrett has run it to score rushing touchdowns. This year, that total has cratered. There's some debate that fresh blood at the running back spot, namely the substitution of Tashard Choice for the injured Marion Barber, will add more zip to the offense.

I'm skeptical of this claim. I'm going to offer some stats which show that even if you brought back Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith after they swam in the geezer pool from the movie "Cocoon,'' they would not do much better than the current backs. Rotating faces at tailback merely shuffles the blame -- and obscures the real problem.

I'm going to use rushing touchdowns as my standard. Short-yardage and goal-line rushing is the mark of a line's true strength. In these situations and in that area of the field, few secrets exist. If it's 3rd-and-1, or 3rd-and-goal at the two, you can't often fake it. To gain those yards on ground your linemen, tight ends and backs need to overpower their opponents.

That was the hallmark of the Johnson-Era Cowboys, whose rushing touchdown totals started strong and grew to legendary percentages in their four-year championship reign:

Year -- Pts./Gm. -- TDs -- Pass TDs -- Rush TDs -- by backs -- Rush TDs %
1992 25.6 43 23 20 20 47%
1993 23.5 38 18 20 20 53%
1994 25.9 45 19 26 25 58%
1995 27.2 47 18 29 28 62%

Older fantasy fans will nod. This chart shows why Troy Aikman was a fantasy football afterthought and Emmitt Smith the most sought after player in that time. When Dallas got into the red zone, it was going to hammer in with its back, usually the durable Mr. Smith. Only two of the team's 95 rushing touchdowns in that time were not scored by a running back.

The Garrett Cowboys have scored almost on par with those Super Bowl winning groups. His '07 team averaged more than any of the Triplets teams and his current team matches the '93 team's production. His guys score in a very different way however, especially this year:

Year -- Pts./Gm. -- TDs -- Pass TDs -- Rush TDs -- by backs -- Rush TDs %
2007 28.4 48 36 12 10 25%
2008 22.6 41 29 12 12 29%
2009 22.6 39 26 13 13 33%
2010 23.3 27 21 6 4 22%

Does your grammar skills needs work?

The answer to both questions is yes.

this guy...atleast i know there is someone on the forum that will critisize everything. There is always someone who wants to be a English teacher out on grammar partrol:lmao2:

I was just messing, I don't care about your grammar. Really, it just reminded me of Darren Hambrick asking "What do voluntary mean?" :laugh1:

Everybody like to blame the O-Line for the running problems, but I think it more with the backs and coaching not making adjustment. How many time we see Barber in open space just get run down or Felix just look lost sometimes. Plus either are number 1 backs

:banghead:

All 3 of Dallas's RB's are average. None are great. Dallas really needs to get a stud back there.

we dont need another RB we need a new OLine. Put Choice in as starter and let Felix come in for the "homerun". Get rid of Barber... he has lost his touch.... he is way beyond his running ovr ppl. GET RID OF HIM

Yep. Depressingly, on Talkin' Cowboys they said that (with 5 games to go) the Cowboys are on pace to have the lowest rushing totals and the fewest rushing touchdowns in club history. I wonder where that might place us in league history. Wherever it might be, the rushing game has been dismally bad.

Not this thread again. To the OP, maybe you should do a search before starting a thread that has been on here a million times. Just saying.
