I'd hate to say it...

but Felix is starting to resemble the tenure of Julius Jones.

I love the guy, but it's beginning to look like a repeat of the same-

little change of pace speedster, stays injury prone... adds weight/bulk as he preps to take on the full load... loses the speed that made him a playmaker... goes down too easily from any contact.

I think they even shared the same injury history to being here... high anle sprain to dislocated shoulder.

I had such high hopes for Felix, and I'm not giving up yet... but it really looks to me to be the same exact story, all over again.

Maybe some of it has to do with the run blocking from the OL!!!!

It definitely does- no doubt about that.

But, man, both of those guys made their mark ripping off 40 yard burners through the whole or on the edge...

I'm waiting to see Felix do it again... just I like waited to see JJ do it again...

and it never really happened after his first season or two.

That certainly isn't helping our running game at all. Probably why Red wants to throw it more often than not.

I blame the OL coach for this not being able to run thing we got going.

I want to see more of Murray though if Felix isn't making it because of injuries.

Give me some Tanner while your at it.

Murray/Tanner whos w/ me? ;)

it is similar, but felix is alot better than Julius Jones

edit: Just saw who OP was.

Trollers gonna troll.

I love Felix and am not ready to give up on him, but if you compare what he has done up to this point as a Cowboy to what Julius did over his time with the Cowboys, you'd have to say Julius contributed more to the Cowboys. O-Line or no O-Line eventually you're going to have to produce.

Felix is way better than Julius was when he was here. I can only remember Julius having one great game which was against the Seahawks (almost a 200 yd game) but fizzled after that. He resembled a robot towards the end of his tenure. Felix has more wiggle and is absolutely dangerous if he can break one.

OP is right as much as people might not want to hear it but unfortunately Julius Jones contributed more than what Felix has done. Felix is the better back talent wise but it just hasn't happened yet and yes the O-line hasn't opened up many holes but like another poster stated you eventually have to produce

Uh, he did produce versus a very tough Jets defense, scoring a coveted goal-line TD. He was effective in blitz pickup, caught three passes out of the backfield and ran enough to allow us to pass for 342 yards.

He seperates his shoulder on the fifth play of the second game and isn't effective and now he's ready for the pasture?

He may never be a bell-cow back but he's not going anywhere soon. By the time this year is done he will have done more than Julius. From there, his health will determine his legacy.

I'm wondering how much longer our progress-stopping RB2 will be taking carries away from Felix's future backfield partner(s).

I never said anything about "isn't effective" or "ready for pasture".

I was comparing this point in his career to the similarities of Julius at the same point then. I'm hoping to see a divergence from this pattern, going forward. But there's no denying there are similarities, thus far.

People think he's not productive because he doesn't run off a lot of 80 yard runs and 150 yard games but he averages over 5 ypc I think, he catches, he can block in the backfield...just not sexy enough for the average (casual) Cowboys fan.

Where has the screen pass been this season? It seemed pretty effective for us in the preseason. I don't get it.

He's averaging 2.7.

I was actually reacting to the post above mine and another previous that mentioned lack of production. There is no arguing that his health will limit his ceiling before his talent does. I'm just saying, this year is young, he's tried, unsuccessfully, to play through injury last week and looks to be playing next week. I've liked what I've seen to date and expect him to produce.

I don't compare him to Julius as much as I think of Westbrook. He was always nicked-up but was deadly when on the field. That might be his limitation.

Who are you?

I'll be sure to call on you when I need my fortune read, Miss Cleo.

Felix Jones is one of my favorite players.

But thanks for your input.
