Also you have to believe if we are targeting a RB @ 22 then the Pacman Jones deal is virtually done.

Agreed. Thats the first thing I thought of when I hear RB at 22.

Felix Jones by a long shot...vastly more productive...did it for more than one yr...did it against far better competition

Chris Johnson is among NCAA active career leaders in all purpose yards with 6,345 yards in 46 games, 2nd in KR with 2,562. He is also 2nd in all-purpose yards a game with 143.2. Give me CJ hands down.

I don't think that suggests that at all. It's not like there's a whole lot of secrecy behind the Cowboys' needs: CB, WR, RB.

Besides, Jerry Jones isn't dumb enough to think that he doesn't have to worry about the corner position because we possibly may sign PacMan.

We still need corners regardless. Henry is old and injured and Newman will be 30 by the start of the season and is in a contract year.

Perhaps. He usually doesn't actually find out who we're likely drafting until literally the night before the draft. It seems a bit early for him to get that sort of information when a good portion of the pro days aren't even finished yet.

sources are probably more willing to talk now than at this point during other times, now that we're 2 years removed from Bill

I think CJ is the 24th player in NCAA history to have over 6,000 career yards

Felix may have been the more productive runner, but he has nothing on CJ in terms of overall yardage

Felix and CJ are probably the most suited backs for us, since both will see more snaps than any other back that we could draft, Jonathan Stewart too, since all 3 of them can return kicks, Felix and CJ being very good at it

I agree. Either guy would be a bonus for us.

Out of those two I'd take Charles over them..He's just a better running back once you hand him the ball. All three have a lot of work to do pass blocking.

The draft guide that I have has Johnson listed as a receiver, not a running back. I also heard somewhere recently that some teams view him as a slot receiver.

I don't think either one of those guys should be drafted in the first round.

Nevermind. Found it. Ugh. That's very depressing.

Meh, don't worry... I like Mosley, and he does have some people who talk to him (though some like Sparano and Ireland are now gone), but no way are they telling Mosley what our real plans are this long before the draft.

Although Stewart fits the mold of what Wade seems to like in a back -- he had some sub-six-foot, 230 pound backs in Buffalo, and reportedly liked Burner Turner a lot -- those plans seen phony to me. Number 22 is probably too high for Jones, and 28 is way too high for Flowers.

This may be unpopular on this Board, but IF the top CBs are all gone, I'd have no problem in taking Stewart at 22, assuming his toe injury isn't going to detract from his rookie season.

Preferably, one of the top CBs will still be there, or maybe JJ tries to trade down with the 22nd pick, but if we're unable to trade and get value, I think Stewart can be a very good back for us.

I do think that with our 28th pick, JJ is doing to deal for R Williams most likely.

To me this isn't a tough call.

Felix Jones.

He was the better college performer versus more talented defenses, has less injury concerns and has shown he can play the position.

I think more teams miss at RB and WR based on speed than any other positions.

Those are not just athletic positions but very much "skill" positions. I like CJ, but he doesn't look like a natural runner to me. Short, stocky with low center of gravity and quick fee tis what Felix Jones possesses and he looks like a natural runner.

I agree, but if someone made me choose between the two I'd take Felix Jones

I've read a couple of draft people/guides opinions on CJ now that say he may have to move to WR

Felix Jones. Already comfortable in a 2 back system and played against tougher competition so the risk reward difference isn't as risky.

I like Johnson a lot though.

I think both are 2nd rounders though.

I understand the argument that Felix jones played against better competition but just remember this, Tony Romo one of the best QBs in the game and TO and Randy Moss, 2 of the best receivers in the game, played against lesser competition. My point is just because they went to a smaller school and played against lesser competition in no way measures what they can be on the next level.

I don't know, Felix reminds me a lot of Julius, and not just because they share a last name.
