I wrote this ahiel back a month or so ago comparing him to McFadden!
They played the SAME DEFENSES with the SAME O-line, YOU DO THE MATH!
The love will come?
It's already here, I've been pumping this guy to be our top pick for months!
Remember THIS POST I made months ago????????
12 Carries 129 Yards 10.8 Avg. LONGEST 44 T.D.'s 1
16 Carries 96 Yards 6.0 Avg. LONGEST 36 T.D.'s 0
12 Carries 133 Yards 11.1 Avg. LONGEST 73 T.D.'s 0
7 Carries 132 Yards 18.9 Avg. LONGEST 71 T.D.'s 2
13 Carries 141 Yards 10.8 Avg. LONGEST 59 T.D.'s 2
6 Carries 42 Yards 7.0 Avg. LONGEST 17 T.D.'s 0
15 Carries 101 Yards 6.7 Avg. LONGEST 38 T.D.'s 2
17 Carries 89 Yards 5.2 Avg. LONGEST 18 T.D.'s 1
13 Carries 166 Yards 12.8 Avg. LONGEST 72 T.D.'s 3
9 Carries 85 Yards 9.4 Avg. LONGEST 31 T.D.'s 0
MAN, look at his YARD PER CARRY for EVERY GAME, this tells me he runs great against EVERY DEFENSE he's faced and is consistent game in and game out.
Now, look at his yards, he seems to have basically gotten over 100 yards EVERY GAME when he's getting MINIMAL Carries EVERY GAME (because of McFadden).
Then look at his LONGEST RUN compared to his ATTEMPTS for that game.
He's only getting MINIMAL TOUCHES EVERY GAME and CONSISTENTLY breaks off a LONG RUN "WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT".
Now McFadden is the one who's supposed to be the best R.B. and the BREAKAWAY RUNNER, lets only compare the LONGEST RUNS ONLY per game, I'll just list ATTEMPTS PER GAME and LONGEST RUN PER GAME against the SAME DEFENSES in the SAME GAME. Jones had 3 carries for 3 yards in one game and ZERO carries in the other, so I'll exclude those two games for this comparison, BUT Keep in mind, these are the SAME GAME against the EXACT SAME DEFENSE.
Jones 12 carries LONGEST 44
McFadden 24 carries LONGEST 25
Jones 16 Carries LONGEST 36
McFadden 33 Carries LONGEST 23
Jones 12 Carries LONGEST 73
McFadden 29 Carries LONGEST 56
Jones 7 Carries LONGEST 71
McFadden 19 Carries LONGEST 51
Jones 13 Carries LONGEST 59
McFadden 25 Carries LONGEST 25
Jones 6 Carries LONGEST 17
McFadden 17 Carries LONGEST 13
Jones 15 Carries LONGEST 38
McFadden 22 Carries LONGEST 30
Jones 17 Carries LONGEST 18
McFadden 19 Carries LONGEST 20
Jones 13 Carries LONGEST 72
McFadden 34 Carries LONGEST 80
Jones 9 Carries LONGEST 31
McFadden 32 Carries LONGEST 73
I mean, McFadden was averaging at least twice as many carries PER GAME and yet his LONGEST RUNS with TWICE AS MANY CARRIES or more in most cases doesn't compare at all.
Jones CONSISTENTLY rattles off LONG RUNS "EVERY GAME" with only small amounts of carries while the BEST R.B. to come out in a decade some say doesn't have that big BREAKAWAY action that Jones has since Jones gets less than half the attempts per game and the LONGEST RUNS from one to the other against the SAME TEAM and SAME DEFENSE isn't even in the same ballpark.
You'd think by looknig at this that Jones is this little scat back Dave Meggett Barry Sanders little quick speedster but in reality he's 6' tall and 200 pounds, McFadden is 6'-2 TWO inches bigger and 205 pounds, 5 pounds heavier.
JONES 6'-0 200 pounds
McFadden 6'-2 205 pounds
So as you can see, this is why I have a man crush on Jones and want him with our top pick to get that ONE LONG RUN per game that we all though Julius would do after his rookie season, and since Barber will be getting the BULK of the workload and you need another R.B. who can bust off BIG LONG RUNS with MINIMAL CARRIES PER GAME, why not get someone who has proven he's capable of making the LONG RUN EVERY GAME while only getting on average about only 11 or 12 carries a game BECAUSE the team had McFadden carrying the load.
Seems like the PERFECT compliment to Barber, a guy who can TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE everytime he touches it and has PROVEN he can take it to the house EVERY GAME with just MINIMAL Carries.
Oh, and he's NEVEVER averaged this year less than 6 yards per carry while McFadden averaged less then 6 yards per carry 7 out of 12 games and while running behind the SAME O-LINE against the SAME DEFENSE for their whole careers, McFadden average yards per carry per year was
2005 6.3 yards per carry
2006 5.8 yards per carry
2007 5.7 yards per carry
Compared to Jones who averaged
2005 6.3 yards per carry
2006 7.6 yards per carry
2007 9.1 yards per carry
McFadden's average went down every year, Jones went up every year, and Jones WORST YEAR was McFaddens' best year, and his 7/6 yards per carry was SICK, but he TOPPED THAT this year with an INSANE 9.1 yards per carry, NINE YARDS PER CARRY????????
I WANT HIM WITH OUR TOP PICK, he'd give our offense that EXPLOSIVE R.B. we need to pair with Barber.
