I can literally beat that and I was a division two soccer player. Now he looks and runs like he's 40.

Edit 4.79. Even worse

Id like to see them talk a star player into running a 40 just to see what they run VS their combine

IF you think about it, I bet about 75-80% of NFL players are probably not that close to their combine 40 numbers. Think about the bulk these guys put on to just survive in the NFL, 10-15 pounds doesn't sound like much but mass is mass and there is not too much you can do to improve speed, either you are fast or you are not. I know you can shave tenths of a second off but the physics and the nature of the human body say every year is your enemy.

For comparison, a WR named Nathan Slaughter ran a 4.33 there.

Stick a fork in Felix.
He's done.

This isn't to defend Felix, but Slaughter is only 22 years old, his rookie season was in 2014 and he has never touched the ball in an NFL game. Slaughter should still be at his full speed since he doesn't have the wear and tear on his body that veterans with 5 or more seasons have.

The Cardinals signed Slaughter.

I wonder if many of those vets went through all the training again to run the best 40 time they could, or just got off the couch and ran it.

Good point.

Looks like Slaughter also ran a 4.33 at the rookie combine as well.

The primary purpose of the post about Felix was to point out that his results weren't due to a slow surface... that's just what he is now.
