If we can't find the touches on offense for him, he should be on special teams. Plus, AOA hasn't shown me much this season (preseason included).

AOA has been really solid on KR. If I remember correctly Felix was pretty bad returning kicks last year.

This.

Felix will slow down to see if something opens and ends up just getting tackled. Austin was great returning kick offs because he would get the ball and just go. AOA does the same thing.

To my untrained, television watching eye, it hasn't looked like a lot to work with out there.

I would agree AOA is doing a good job, sooner or later he will get that 1 seam he needs to break it.

AOA is faster and better. He hasnt had a lane yet though.

People keep saying what Felix should be doing but I think we have it just right. Sprinkle him in here and there on every drive for about 10 touches

Honestly? I guess another injury is required to get the better player on the field.

If Felix isnt being sprinkled then hes going backwards. He doesnt have the the stamina and physicality that Barber does

I've been thinking this, too. Jones is a dangerous, open-field runner, and we need to get the ball in his hands.

Now, he wasn't doing any better last year than Owusu-Ansah is this year, but there's a difference in their return styles. Jones is more elusive, while Owusu-Ansah is faster.

I'd rather have the guy who can pick his way through traffic than the one who can shoot through a hole because there are not many times when we've seen our return team create good holes.

But last year that never really worked for Felix. He would slowly lollygag to about the 20 before the entire coverage team engulfed him.

For some reason this cracked me up.
And seriously, you're right. AOA hasn't had much of a lane to run through so far but if he ever gets one... he's quick.

Felix is not a good KR. End of story.
This. He jogs looking for an opening instead of just running full speed. He was better at it when he was a rookie.

Its just sad to me that with all that is/was expected of Felix, we are even talking about him returning kicks or getting 10 touches.........just sad.

I try. :)

The coverage was better this last game. Maybe the next they can improve the return game.

Sounds like he should be told not to jog.

I have no doubt he would be a better option if he wouldn't jog.

Funny, Wade said today he thought AOA was really close on KO returns and would break one soon.

Personally, he scares the heck out of me. Especially on punts.

Last year was the first year the wedge was disallowed, and I don't think Felix adjusted well to it. But he's established that he has good vision and cutting skills as an open-field runner, change shift gears and burst when needed.

I don't think you throw out what he accomplished at a major college and in first season as a return man based on last season.

And I don't see Owusu-Ansah being able to do all the things Felix can in the return game. If he hits the hole, he hits it fast and is hard to stop, but if he has to search for the hole, he does not show much cutting ability or ability to get back to top speed quickly.

Of course, I'm judging him on a small sample overall, so maybe I'm wrong. Just seems to me when you have an established threat like Jones, using him for less than 10 touches a game is a travesty. Putting him back on returns just gives him another avenue to possibly make something happen.
