Please elobrate more.

Probably alluding to the fact that in all likelihood a female kicker will not be good enough to kick in the NFL because there are denizens of male kickers that are simply better than her. And the only reason to have her as a kicker in the NFL is for a publicity stunt because she's not as good as the men.

If that's the case, I don't blame him. While the chasm of difference between female and male leg strength is narrower than say upper body strength...it's still a chasm.

Heh, I was gonna say, if she can make it from 50, then the chasm isn't too big.

Then I went to the story and saw this:

made 30 of 33 point-after tries and connected on a (as in ONE) 30-yard field goal as a senior.

Nothing to see here. Novelty scholarship.

I've seen kids in high school make kicks from 60 in practice. But being able to consistently make kicks from 38-55 yards is what is required in the NFL...not to mention having the leg strength to kick the ball with a high enough launch angle so it doesn't get blocked. John Lee was an All American at UCLA, but when he got into the pros he couldn't kick the ball high enough and it kept getting blocked.

So even if she was making kicks in practice or even a high school game from 50...there's still a lot of other things that is going on that makes me skeptical that she is really good enough to be a top-32 kicker in the world.

Thing is, I can't see a NFL team signing, and retaining on the 53 man roster, a woman kicker unless she could kick as well as a guy could.
With Extra points being from 32-33 yards out, it isn't a chip shot anymore.
No GM/HC wants to risk a game due to putting out a woman kicker. A small NCAA/FCS school could, but not in the NFL.
I'm in the belief if any NFL team actually signed a female kicker, it's due to her being good enough. Which remains to be seen.

I think you're probably right. However, i could see a team hiring an unqualified female kicker in preseason. It's still embarrassing.

That's awesome. I imagine this is just the beginning and we'll see more and more women playing football at a high level, and not just kicking positions. It's really been just the patriarchal society that has kept women from excelling in football, like we've seen in other fields. Hopefully this shifts the culture of football to being based on merits and not a good ol boys club where male privilege is the end all and be all. There's no excuse for coaches not finding ways to utilize 50% of the population in football besides chauvinism. The future of football is female.

Problem is that lingerie football just is not ever going to be respected or much of anything else. There were some attempts at professional female football but of course they failed.

I do hope in your rant that you do not actually think women can compete with men in football outside of say kicking? That it was so called humor or sarcasm?

.......last player.............see: gender free
could she be any worse then some of the kickers we have now? Just as a kicker I could see it happening one day; but not a punter or anything else.
