Ferguson and Rivera, worth the $$$ ?

No doubt Henry has been worth every bit of the money he was signed for.

How about Ferguson:
6 games, 11 tackles. He's been the invisible man and it doesn't seem like he's one of the types who clogs things so other guys get tackles. Why did we pay him so much when we had a much better player like Glover?

Rivera hasn't shown anything as far as I can tell. His pass protection hasn't been much and his run blocking has been even less.

Ferguson's job isn't to collect stats. He is supposed to take on the blocks so others can make the plays.

Exactly. Start watching the d-line in the trenches and you will see Ferg's impact...

SO FAR it looks like Henry is a STEAL. He didn't have the household name, but he has come up big so far.

I'm not ready to bash Rivera. I cant say he was "worth" a certain dollar figure, but he has helped solidify a line that was poor last year. We have been very good at pass blocking. It isn't the turnstile it was last year. I have to think the presence of Rivera has helped Pettitti to acclimate and perform well at right tackle. I think it is OK so far, but he DID get a whopper of a check. It would be nice to hear PITTDAWGS input on how much Rivera is helping his son, and how much help Pettitti is getting from the tight ends.

I'm not ready to call Fergie a bust either, but he is being paid starter money. Maybe Glover is just outplaying him. I have to think Fergie's presence is keeping Glover fresher and the presence of Fergie is enabling Dallas to rotate in the new guys with him, with no let up in line integrity.

I think Glover's play has been, in part, because he's able to rest with Ferguson sharing snaps. Wasn't there a stat floating around that he didn't even have a fourth-quarter sack last season? Doesn't he have several this year?

Bledsoe and Henry were steals. Ferguson's presence has helped, though we probably overpaid (but didn't we know that when we signed him? that we had to overpay because we had to have him?). Rivera has definitely been the most disappointing, but like the poster said above, I'm willing to wait him out a little.

I was a big Fred Smoot fan in free agency. Glad we steered clear of that ship (pun intended).

River's cpontributions to Petitti have been invaluable. His work ethic and leadership have also been huge pluses. Besides, I'm willing to overlook several things considering he's still getting healthy after back surgery while getting acclimated to a new team, system, city, climate, etc.

Ferguson, despite being labeled as an underacheiever here, has been very solid. It seems that the 3-4 group is cenetered around Jason at the nose with the rookies flanking him on either side. I think that group has been looking awfully good lately.

Rivera suffered a major set back with his injury in the preseason. I am sure he's in a heck of alot of pain and still playin' through. I suspect he'll be solid this year and back to his pro bowl self next year.

Ferguson has been okay - the problem with the run D so far has been due to poor LB play mostly. It was evident again today. He is a very valuable part of the DL rotation that has been the strength of the defense so far.

Rivera was not a good pickup and one that I think we will regret more and more as time goes on. I don't really know what BP/JJ were thinking on this one. We can't blame Rivera as he's giving it his all.
