Am I the only one who thinks the casualty count will be relatively high? The video on that link is mind blowing.

That was crazy! He had to be a few hundered yards away when that thing blew.

My deceased friend, who died from an unrelated event, was once burning trash in the ground by throwing it in a hole he had dug with a back ho. If you can imagine a 10 foot deep, 18 foot or so hole in the ground with boxes, old furniture and other kinds of trash in it. Well, he decides to pour gasoline on the fire, then throw a match and hide behind the dirt pile that had been dug out of the ground. He built his house not far from his mothers. The hole was in between, about 40 yards away. When he threw the match in, an explosion so loud and thunderous shook the house I was in along with his ex-wife and a few friends. It shook the entire ground, like an earthquake. We looked out to see this huge flame bursting out of the ground, pictures on the all shook, a window shattered and then we see Heath running towards the house with a big smile on his face.

A deputy of the small town thought it was a plane explosion and he was patrolling miles away.

Anyway, that explosion reminded me of that day.

How horrifying. Death toll is at 60 right now. :(

I'm afraid it's going to be much higher. This is really tragic.

The latest is that many of the injured and possibly deceased are firefighters that were working on putting out a fire just before the plant exploded.

Damn, we stop there every trip to and from Dallas. They have some great Czech bakeries, good road food, and nice to take to whoever you're visiting.

Awful news to hear!

That's probably the most insane video I've ever seen in my life. You have to think anyone exposed with in 100 yards was just incinerated. Fertilizer was part off the Oklahoma City bomb, my god my heart goes out to the people who lost loved ones in that today, that's awful.

Horrible news, that number is going to continue to rise :(

I sure hope this was an accident. The materials at this plant were the same kind used to make the bombs at Oklahoma City(which was linked to Waco), which the anniversary is this week of both events(Koresh and McVeigh).

Boston marathon, at least two poison letter and now a fertilizer plant, coincidence? Or a planned attack on many fronts?

Look up the Texas City Disaster. Two ships full of ammonium nitrate blew up. Someone was killed by a flying ship hatch 15 miles from the explosion. Thirty to forty firemen killed. That stuff is tremendously explosive, without any help from anyone. I just hope it was a real accident and not due to anyone's sloppiness.

There's a statue and monument at the front of the state capitol dedicated to firefighters who've lost their lives in the line of duty. That one always brings a tear. I do fear they will be adding some names to the plaques.

I know about it all too well. Grew up about 15 miles North from there in Clear Lake City.

Yeah, I lived down in Kemah for awhile. Used to drive by Texas City regularly. It was still on the 'Hazardous Cargo Route'.
