Stat haters beware part deux. The following are seasonal averages between 2004 and 2008 displaying the productivity of both wide receivers according to field position. Terrell Owens' numbers are illustrated in GREEN and Roy Williams' numbers are illustrated in BLUE:

Appreciate the stats man.

One guy at 37 is still better and more productive than a guy thats 27. And he's in better shape than him too. Damn you Jerry.

Ahh, the 37yr is 1 of the BEST to ever play the game. So, whats your point? I don't think anyone would ever argue TO numbers and his production.

One thing that jumped out at me when perusing Terrell Owens' stats is first downs.

Owens generated 69 first downs on 81 receptions in '07.

Owens only generated 38 first downs on 69 receptions in '08.

Let's see the comparison next year after RW has Romo throwig to him and he is reaping the benifits of a great running game! RW will be a Probowler, to bad all the haters have created needless doubt about a very good football player. Do we really doubt our scouting department this bad, I am growing tired of all the haters. Piss off.

That's a very good point. Terrell Owens has always only been a big play receiver. If a play is designated for him which runs underneath and away from coverage, he will turn that pass into a huge run after the catch play. If he gets behind the coverage and the throw is there, same thing.

While that philosophy will light up a scoreboard if its running flawlessly, it doesn't strengthen a ball control type attack, which a possession type receiver often excels in. That's one of the reasons why I believe that the front office has made the gamble to release Owens and go with Williams as the number one receiver.

Should injuries, etc., impose obstacles for the offense during a season, it's much easier for an offense to continue depending upon a methodical, ball control type attack with the remaining healthy players than to hope that the same, big play offense would continue to be just as effective once a key player(s) has been sidelined. I believe that Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips also considered this when the offense began to struggle to sustain drives last season.

Now, please excuse me. khalidi may mention Jason Garrett a.k.a. Red Jesus several times after seeing this post and I don't want to spoil his fun.

Prediction...Roy will be at the 2009 Pro Bowl and Owens won't.

I don't think anyone is hating. It's just that Roy's "preview" last year left a lot to be desired and he has to prove himself to a lot of people for what Jerry invested in him. I think he will be ok; not as dynamic as Owens, but he won't need to be, considering we will see a heavy dosage of the running game and also more attention to Witten.

I think that's a very fair assessment and I agree with you. Well done.
