Starting field position for Dallas was the 20, 45, 5, 10, 10, 45 (7 seconds left in 1st half), 20, 32, 20, 16, 20, 4. This, and the horrible game plan, had a lot to do with the poor offensive showing. I see a lot of offensive coordinators playing Simon Says and trying to duplicate these prolific hurry up offenses in college. It's not going to be consistently successful in the NFL.

I thought field position killed them. A big play was that offensive PI call on Dez.

At one point in the fourth quarter FOX flashed a graphic that had our average 3rd down distance at 10.2 yards.

We could have started every drive at the 40 and it might not have made a difference.

Not necessarily true. Because we had such bad field position that surely led to the conservative play calling.

You have to tip your hat to their punter, he had a great game.

I think we consistently had bad field position because we never picked up enough first downs to pin the Chiefs back inside their own 20. We just kept punting it back from deep in our own territory.

When we had McBriar, we would gain 20 yards during a multi-punt exchange. Doesn't happen anymore.

Its obviously huge for us. We already play timid and scared on offense. But with bad field position we'd be better off just punting it back on 1st down!

Sometimes you have to get yourself out of trouble. The Cowboys threw in the towel, content to just punt it away and keep the bad field position. A running game would make a big difference.

Field position hurt in the first half, 3 straight at around our 10. That wasnt the case in the 2nd half, where they put up a whole 3 points.

That offensive PI on Dez really hurt as well. That pinned them back instead of getting a first down at the 30.

In the second half, we started at our own 20, 16, 20, 32, 20 and 4. Given those starting positions and game situations, we should have scored 6.8 points in the second half, and we scored six (not three). So field position definitely played a big part in our inability to score more -- although two fumbles and a dropped wide-open catch near midfield might have been even bigger.

The one punt Colquitt had that hit the 3 yard line and just stopped was a thing of beauty. He killed us. :(

What's the formula on this?

It felt like the Refs basically let the teams play, until they threw an inexplicable flag. It looked like the Dez Offensive PI and the Claiborne PI were both phantom calls. That's a lot of a close game right there. Obviously Dez dropping a 30+ yard pass that hit him in stride in the hands was also a big blow.

I think we're a better offense. I think they have a better defense. A couple of breaks went their way and that's the ballgame.
