Because it’s coming to Dallas on Sunday. Just as dangerous with Fields and Montgomery

To defend the RPO you keep a spy w/speed that can tackle in the open field, then have the DE who is left unblocked ALWAYS hit the QB every time no matter what he does with the ball as he is acting as a runner at that point.

Spy is responsible for the back on the pitch. Spy shadows the QB and always goes with him which ever direction he goes but takes the "other" player.

Don't run lots of stunt, but keep everyone in their lanes and don't allow trapping cutbacks.

You're right in stopping the run but the Linebackers are also being read on the pass. Must be disciplined in their zone responsibility .

The Bears are not good. Seeing so many people act like the Bears have some lethal offense. They had almost 2 weeks to prepare for this game so they are going to look better than they have. This is the best game on offense they've play this year. Their offense is very lethargic and they are going up against our defense in less than a week. Not worried at all.

Remember the cardinals last year did similar with Murray. They went opposite of Micah. The eagles went at him with two players, which kinda made it impossible to stop. I think you have to use Micah in the middle more. Let him go sideline to sideline. He's such a weapon you can still blitz him in the middle and rush him on 3rd and longs.

The style of D we play is not suited to stop the RPo_Our DEs just rush up the field most of the time.

Just admit you can't stop the read option and take the L and head into the bye 5-3 and regroup from there.

By the way guys, RPO is NOT the same is read option. Read option is like what RG3, Lamar Jackson, Vick, Hurts, Murray in AZ, and the Bears with Fields do.

RPO is something completely different. It's giving the quarterback dual option on the same play to hand off or to keep the ball and throw, usually a quick route because the o-line is run blocking not pass blocking. Doug Pederson did it a lot with the Eagles especially in their Super Bowl championship season.

Read Option =/= RPO

Both are for brain dead qbs.

RPO does not generally involve the QB running the football with his legs. It's actually a pretty smart and newish concept. McVay and the Rams have run it quite a bit as well as Shanahan with the Niners.

But people shouldn't be confused between read option and RPO because they are two drastically different plays.

By Wednesday there will be a thread on how they have surpassed us already.

Watching the constant conflation of “RPO” with the read option on this board is pretty maddening.

And stopping the read option is simple: Always hit the QB. Have the edge or end crash down and hit the QB with a linebacker following responsiveness for the back.

NFL OCs will stop running it very quickly because their QB will tell them to stop.

DeMarcus Ware always seemed completely lost against the read option, whether it was Vick or RG3

We'll see if our new Ware guy i.e. Micah is any better at it

Discipline is the key
The scheme works when players try to guess and not just follow your assignment

Easy....Apply pressure from the edges....instead of sitting back. Cut the time the QB has to make a decision/ read.
