What is the best program to convert AVI's into an MP4?

I tried winff earlier and it took so long I had to give up on it and it doesnt give me any type of time frame of when it might be done.

I use Jet Audio to convert mp3s to wavs, so that I can burn them to discs that will play in my Jeep's CD players, but I'm not home where I can check out if it works with mp4s... I'm guessing it probably does...

I actually think the Jet Audio player is the best one I've found for playing wavs and mp3s on my PC, it gives a great sound... and the interface for converting files is childishly simple...

are you trying to burn avi video to mpeg 4 video?

if so, mpeg streamclip is free and excellent or quicktime pro.

I am trying to put a movie on my itouch and I used some programs to shrink the file and everything but the only problem is ipods/itouch's only play MP4's and not AVI's.

Ill try super.

You need these two apps... and they're free...

DVD43 is a program that will strip off piracy encoding on any DVD...

After you rip the file you use HandBrake to convert it to just about any format out there. It has a built in template for iPod in both low and high res and MANY others as well...

I've used both to put dozens of movies on an iPod...

They are pretty straightforward, but if you have trouble there are tons of sites that offer step by step help...

download mpeg streamclip.

You can encode right to mpeg4 with the h.264 codec. That is exactly what you need. And its free.

DVD43 is funny. It places a yellow face in your system tray with no expression. When you put in a DVD and it starts stripping off the code, he turns to a little red devil. When he finishes he turns to a green smiley face...

These two programs are widely used. I don't think you'll have any issues at all...

Does dvd 43 shrink the file size or is in its original size?

Also on handbrake what is the difference in source or destination?

Id think destination would be my itouch. But when I try to locate the file under "source" It wont show.

DVD43 Just gets you by the decoding...

You convert the file with HandBrake... and with the different settings you can make it many different sizes...

Yeah, but what about the file I want to put on my itouch?

Is that source or destination?

I think I know the answer to that question but when I click on source that sucker is nowhere to be found but when I click on destination the movie is right there.

Oh... just put the file anywhere you want... then use iTunes to transfer it to your iPod...
