• There will be some trades in this draft that might seem one-sided. Several team officials told me in the past few days that they value Day 2 picks (rounds two and three) so highly that they’d be willing to take slightly less in compensation to move down. Where could this come into play? Cleveland (four), Indianapolis (six), Baltimore (16), Seattle (18), New England (23, 31), New Orleans (27), Philadelphia (32). “This is not your typical draft,” said one veteran club official Sunday. “The second, third and even fourth rounds are gold. You can take less than the trade-value chart says and still make a very good trade if you get multiple picks in those rounds.”

Moving back in the 1st always looked good for us. Of guys likely to fall to us, only Vea seems like a special talent to stick for.

This is exactly why Dallas shouldnt trade anything other than a 4th round pick for Earl Thomas! Those first 3 rounds have a lot of good players in them.

I've said for years the trade value chart is a guide, not a rule. The team you want to trade with isn't obligated to follow it.

I've been saying that those first four rounds should net us strong players this year. We don't need to piss off any of those. I sure would like to see someone want a QB and give up a ton to trade with us to get him.

I wholeheartedly agree...............If Lamar Jackson is still there , there might be a team (or hopefully two and three) , that would be willing to get silly and give multiple picks up........................

We can hope. Rudolph also may fall into that class.

If several players that we like are still there, it would be sweet to make a small drop with Buffalo or New England and net a third rounder. A Travis Frederick deal all over again.

If you could do that, it would open up several options:
  1. You could keep the pick of course
  2. You could trade it away for Earl Thomas if you wanted to
  3. Or you could use it as ammunition to trade up in round 2 if another coveted player fell

One of the great things about the draft is that the NFL is never short of stupid people willing to do stupid things. My hope is that Jerry is no longer in complete control on draft night so we are not among the stupid.

I said this about 2 months ago..

The 2nd and 3rd round is where it's at. Especially the 2nd.

Move down in the 1st and get more picks. Then come back up in round 2 as many times as possible.

I’ve thought the second rnd was overall the sweet spot in this draft for a couple reason
Some positions don’t have elite talent but lots of good talent like WR
You have lots of QB desperate teams so you are pushing player that are better players down over position

He is just a PR guy at this point. No worries. The folks behind the curtain pulling the strings and levers on player moves is Will MCclay and Stephen Jones. Its been that way for AT LEAST 3 years plus. Jerry makes for good drama and conversation. He's basically PT Barnum. A good showman, but the real substance happens by Stevie and Will.

I would love to have two 2nd round picks. I would gladly take our 3rd and one of our 6th rounders, plus a 7th and trade it for like pick 60..somewhere in that range...Quality over quanity.

Need to find a trade partner to do the trade though.

I hear you...But as long as Jerry’s sitting at his usual spot in the center of the war room, I worry.

shoot..me too. LOL..I cringe when I see him,let alone..speak. He's a camera hound..but these days that's about the extent of it.

Tellin you all..he is purely a showman and a business man these days. He runs the business matters and does the PR stuff. He is a modern day PT Barnum. Just look at Jerry World. But when it boils down to player moves...he may be in the room alright, but by no means is he super involved in picking them. He's in the loop, which stands to reason, but he is more of an interested observer these days. He's learned over the last few years to delegate these things. He's no spring chicken.
