Thanks for posting. I’m really excited about Bass. He may be the steal of the draft. He really makes up for taking Schoonmaker in the 2nd round and not an offensive lineman. He’s playing better than a rookie and he’s an UDFA.

Yeah, I shouted him out after that first pre-season game, really hoping he becomes a solid starter.

It would be a humongous get if he can be the starting LG next year so we can kick Tyler outside and Tyron become the swing T.

That part he's saying about Mazi Smith and Hankins is right. They are good players, but they don't have the speed Williams has to go around him like that fast enough to make the play.

Also, watch him stutter step his feet @5:04; that's something he doesn't mention. He's got quick feet for a guy his size. I like his hips too. But I also like how quick his feet are, and how coordinated his stutter-step is, for how wide he is. I also like how he gets down field.

I hoping he's that guard that makes everyone wonder how he wasn't taken near his higher end projections.

One "real" game but he didn't look out of place.
The guy was a steal. I said it after watching his film after we signed him. Just looks like a 10 year starter in this league.

How he went undrafted...I will never understand.

Bass has been a huge surprise. It is almost impossible to find an UDFA that can step in and play this good immediately.

Speaking of Schoon and the second round… what is funny is that in the Dallas/Solari blocking scheme, there is no doubt in my mind that Bass is a better player than O’Cyrus Torrence would be. Torrence absolutely needs to be in a gap scheme where he just primarily uses his strength and size to push his guy out of the hole. His feet just aren’t nimble enough to be effective in an inside/outside zone blocking scheme.

Which, of course, is why the team wasn’t interested in him. They did like some other OL, but Torrence was never in the team’s sights in round 2.

Getting Bass as an UDFA is a home run.

You illustrate why the Cowboys don’t draft college guards. They draft tackles, who are more athletic, and convert them to guards. And they draft Centers.

Gonna be a long road. Would be ecstatic if he finds a long term role.

he didn’t blow anyone away but there could be something there.

Let’s hope we don’t have to test it.

Wild that we got him as an UDFA. Hes showing why he was the highest graded run blocking guard in college football. His technique is beyond his years. Just need him to gain strength.

What impresses me about Bass is how quickly he is developing and improving. I watched him in the first preseason game and he looked pretty mediocre. But 2 games into the season and he already looks better than Connor McGovern. I know, it is early, but he is not overwhelmed by NFL DTs. What I noticed about him and Richards is they are not easily bull rushed back into the pocket. That's a start.

In this video, the play where Bass missed on Williams for a 4 yard loss I thought maybe Bass made a mental mistake there. It looked like he was letting Williams go then realized he had to block him. I could be wrong. In any case he did a nice job subbing for Edoga. Edoga seems very fragile so I think we will see more Bass if Tyler Smith can't play.

To all you offensive line gurus and college football guys—-is it common for lineman to not allow a sack in college?

When I heard that stat I was impressed, but I don’t know how big of an accomplishment that is.

I'm pretty blown away actually. For an UDFA he looks better than a lot of people drafted. Wonder why he wasn't? Weird.
