The following is what I think is going to happen during draft weekend..not what I want, what I THINK...

1) I have eliminated David DeCastro from the equation..it is my understanding that DeCastro is not part of the plan at 14..on top of that, the team doesnt even anticipate him being available.

2) A small trade up to get our guy in round 1 is NOT out of the realm of possibility..I think we can expect this team to be aggressive this weekend..similarly to how aggressive we were in FA..this team is going to make a push

3) Trading 2013 draft picks is more likely than trading 2012 draft picks...If we are going to deal 2012 picks, dont expect them to include anything before round 4..again, this team is making a push..we need all the picks we can get this year

Now on to my mock draft

14) Mark Barron S Alabama - I think this guy is hands down the guy we are targeting. I think this team does like Fletcher Cox, however, as many of us already anticipate, Cox will not be available. I would not be shocked whatsoever if we move up 2-3 picks to ensure we get Barron. While I would not be shocked, my gut feeling tells me that it wont be necessary and Barron will be available at 14.

Late 1st rounder/Early 2nd) Peter Konz C Wisconsin - Clearly, I have us moving up from 45. I am not going to sit here and pretend that I know where we are going to pick, heck, I cant even tell you who we are going to pick here. However, as I mentioned earlier, this team is going to be aggressive this weekend and a trade up in my opinion is likely. If we do trade up from 14 to ensure that we land Barron, I think it does hinder our ability to move up here. In this instance, I do not have us moving up from 14, thus, I have us moving up here. If I had to guess, I would say we trade a 2012 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder to get in this territory. I chose Peter Konz for the sake of this mock because this is by far the teams biggest weakness and it was reported very early in the process that Billy C liked Konz. There are a ton of other players that could fall in this area that we have a high grade on that could also be the pick here. I would not count out Dontari Poe.

81) Jamell Fleming CB Oklahoma - We continue the overhaul in the secondary, I completely believe that Jenkins is on his way out and Fleming has the ability to be a starter down the road.

113) Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma - This is a Garrett kind of guy. I just hope this guy can come in and contribute this season.

stopping here because at this point, its a complete crap shoot

i'd be okay with if you mentioned us grabbing someone for the OL along with broyles in the 4th.

****scratch that. apparently i completely over looked konz. lol major whoops!

I'm ok with trading up from #45, but not from #14.

I see at least 1 of the following being available at #14:
Barron
DeCastro
Cox
A player that another team will trade up to get.

I think the early 2nd round might be the sweet spot in this draft. If a player like McClellin does not get drafted in the 1st, it would be worth trading up to get him.

Even if Konz goes before #45, I think Zeitler could play Center at a similiar level to Konz and without the medical issues. Also, I think Philip Blake could start day one for the Boys.

Fleming is a good pick in the 3rd, IMO. He is physical with very good agility and has enough speed (hand timed forty was 4.43).

Broyles just has the "it" factor. I normally don't like small receivers that are not burners, but Broyles is the exception.

3) Trading 2013 draft picks is more likely than trading 2012 draft picks...If we are going to deal 2012 picks, dont expect them to include anything before round 4..again, this team is making a push..we need all the picks we can get this year

God NO. Win, lose or draw this year, I want a shot at one of those franchise QBs next year.

Doesnt mean we are trading a 2013 1st rounder

DeCastro will be available....so you can go ahead and replace him with Barron who won't be.

available or not..hes not an option

so he isnt replacing anybody in our draft

I think Barron is there at #14 despite the recent board hysteria.

Do teams often draft multiple players from the same school?

I think it would make sense to trade down a few spots in the first round in exchange for an extra second round pick - an early one. That way we could take Konz. If we get lucky we may get Barron 4-5 spots lower in the first round.

We have 3 big needs - C/G, S and WR. We should aim to fill all three with 1st or 2nd rounders.

I can't believe that most of the pundits dont include WR as one of our urgent needs. We have only 2 proven NFL standard WRs on our roster and one of those stuggles to stay healthy. None of the other WRs have proven themselves as being NFL players and some, imho, have proven that they dont belong in the league. We're in an era where you need to have 3 starting quality WR on your roster to win. We need to acquire at least 3 WRs before camp. At least 2 of these should be via the draft.

I agree. I've always liked DeCastro and the idea of Brockers at 14 is growing on me but overall I like the idea of trading down.

The problem is that, according to multiple recent sources, there are a lot of teams trying to move down in our range so it may be difficult to find a trading partner willing to offer enough swag for the switch.

I'm beginning the process of reconciling myself to Brockers at 14.

would HATE to trade up for Konz

IMO Zeitler and Blake wil be just as good and we can get them in rounds 2 and 3 respectively without wasting draft picks

now, if we took Barron in 1 and McLellin or Hightower are there at the bottom of 1 and we want to trade up for a pass rusher who can be our starting OLB next year, i can handle that

Lol---oops I misunderstood....thought you would have taken him should he be there.

I can't buy into the idea that they are "making a push" when they let their best receiver from last year go and they "fix" the interior OL by signing two warm bodies. It looks like they are relying on a series of good drafts to build the team back up, which is fine if they can do it but the draft track record isn't too hot.
