Bitter sweet time of the year when its final mock draft time....I'm doing this final 1 with the what I think the Cowboys will be looking to do.
No players with a 1st round grade left so we trade down. I'll predict that Oakland actually makes a smart pick in the 1st when Leonard Williams falls into their laps. They then get antsy to trade up for a WR to get Carr a weapon after a run starts on the position in the early 20's. We get their 2nd and 3rd.
Tevin Coleman RB Indiana- I'm not buying that we are anywhere near set at RB. Coleman isn't my guy but I can definitely see him being the Cowboys guy. He's a homerun hitting slasher who is capable of getting the most out of what is given to him. Possible that his burst and speed will be a perfect match with our scheme and great o line. If he gets the same holes ade
Quinten Rollins CB Miami Ohio- Rollins isn't going to be perfect everywhere because of a lack of straight line speed, but he could be perfect for the zone I believe Rod wants to use more. Good size and quickness to break on the ball. His best attribute is his ball skills and ability to make plays though. Only 1 year of college ball obviously makes him raw, but the upside as a zone CB or even FS is very high.
Lorenzo Mauldin DE Louisville- In and out of 16 different foster homes as a child and spent his high school years in a group home but still turned himself into a D1 prospect and soon to be NFL player. If that isn't RKG I don't know what is. Brings the same never give up attitude onto the field. Some call him a tweener but at 6'4 259 with 33" arms but I don't see why he isn't a good fit at DE. Needs to hit the weight room before he's ready for every down play but so does just about every rookie. Not often do you find the kind of mentality this kid has with the physical attributes to match. He could be something special.
Chris Conley WR Georgia- Freak athlete who shouldn't still be here but because of mediocre qb play and Georgia being a running team his college #'s are only so so. Reminds me of this year's Martavis Bryant. Vertical deep threat that will keep the defense honest and take pressures off of Dez.
Craig Mager CB Texas St- Mager has some of the best hips and feet in this db draft class imo. Has the quickness and agility to mirror almost any WR. Not small and has adequate speed too. Mid round steal because he went to a small school .
Jamil Douglas OG AZ St- 27 straight starts with experience everywhere but C. Moves very well and projects great as a LG in a ZBS. Played LT well last year for AZ St but has short arms which makes him drop this far. Has starter potential in the right scheme (ours).
Gabe Martin LB Bowling Green- LB depth is pretty set on the roster this year imo but young guys to develop are always important. Martin has the size and looks fairly athletic. Could be a good PS stash.
Mike McFarland TE USF- Another PS stash. Witten isn't getting any younger and I'm not sure Escobar will ever be the main guy. McFarland is a big guy with pretty good athleticism and decent hands.
