No kidding. Each one of them, if they all pan out, is a guy we get to add to the roster that we don't have to fight for in college FA after the draft. That's not nothing.

Kind of, huh? Jones would have surprised me, but you'd have thought Jenkins had value.

Lissemore and Rosario, though, had value only because of the time of year they were cut. If you've gone through a whole offseason and think you still have a significant roster hole, coughing up a conditional 7th to make sure you get the guy your proscouts think is the best option out there is not the end of the world. Heading into VFA when you've still got options and hope for your down-roster players, it's another matter entirely.

A week 2 vet?

This is what I have been suggesting. I am hoping for a defensive lineman. I believe that is where our depth is most lacking.

Sterling Moore probably doesn't qualify as a veteran, but he might be a possibility if we go CB.

They could be keeping it open in case someone tries to sign one of the PS players at which time they could just move that player to the 53.

Every other team in the NFL had a full opportunity to claim any one of the players currently residing on our practice squad. I seriously doubt that any of them will make a run at one of them now, before the first game is played.

They may promote someone, but I doubt that it will be because they fear a raid.

IMO one spot open does not mean there is only one roster spot to be filled.

This post should have made a bigger impression and generated more conversation. JMO

I think that came down to value. Dallas valued having those players last year fill a role more than any draft pick it might have been offered.

Lissemore and Rosario are down-the-roster guys, so Dallas could afford to trade them for virtually nothing.

By my count there is 1 spot available. What position will it be?

CB seems most likely since they only have 4.

DL is at 8 but most predicted 9 there.

OL is at 9. In the past they've sometimes kept 10.

WR is at 5. They have often kept 6 there.

The best player although I suspect they are looking more at the first three probably in that order although that's debatable.

For everyone saying we'll sign a vet after week 1, we could still do that and go into week 1 with 53 players. Doesn't make much sense to just have 52 players for even just one week.

Lissemore and Rosario are down-the-roster guys, so Dallas could afford to trade them for virtually nothing.

Rosario was replaced by a 7th round selection in the future, currently by a 6th round acquisition STs/DE Jones. Hanna plus blocking Free Agent Vet TE Alex Smith, Dallas = a rare Win-Win on a Vet FA signing.

Lissemore was expendable thanks to some DL luck also in Vet. FA signings with both Hayden and Sieve making the final cut....they are 1-2 year players that fit the Monte' scheme.

Admittedly some good work by the F.O. in all three phases of the game and the Draft.

Actually on dallascowboys.com it shows 53 players on the Roster. The player --Anthony Armstrong--?? Don't know if this is a mistake or what. Surely u would think they know who's on the team roster.

They didn't cut Jenkins or Felix. Both were Free Agents.

Does seem to be a vet in week 2.

We can sign 20 OL and DL and not help either spot.
It takes real talent to help. And that isn't lying around on the street very often.
Waters is a possible exception but only because he doesn't wanna leave North Texas or attend training camps.
I wouldn't guarantee a guy like that money.
But I'd welcome him in for a looksie week 2.
