Current Situation: Unless Dallas wins the division, they will draft between 7 and 15.
7. Detroit 5-10 SOS.504 vs Minnesota
8. NY Giants 5-10 SOS .506 vs Dallas
9. Carolina 5-10 SOS .529 vs New Orleans
10. Denver 5-10 SOS .567 vs vs Las Vegas
11. Dallas 6-9 SOS .465 at NY Giants
12. LA Chargers 6-9 SOS .490 at Kansas City
13. Minnesota 6-9 SOS .508 at Detroit
14. San Francisco 6-9 SOS .544 vs Seattle
15. New England 6-8 SOS .529 vs Buffalo at vs NY Jets

First Tie Breaker: Strength of Schedule (SOS) which greatly benefits Dallas

A Loss at NY Giants
The worst pick Dallas could have is their current #11 spot. They would jump ahead of any of the 5-10 teams that win with the best pick being #7.

A Win at NY Giants but do not win the division
The best pick Dallas could have is their current #11 spot. They would stay ahead of any of the 6-9 teams that win with the worst pick being #15.

Playoffs? You're talking about playoffs?
The winner of the NFC East will host Tampa Bay in the first round of the playoffs UNLESS Tampa Bay losses to Atlanta AND the LA Rams defeat Seattle next week.

Correction:
If Dallas loses to the Giants, the worst pick Dallas would have is #10 as the Giants would automatically slip behind Dallas. They could still move up as high as #7 if the other current 5-10 teams win.

In Summary ...
If Dallas loses, they will have a top 10 pick.
If Dallas wins but do not win the division, they will have a pick between 11 and 15.
If Dallas wins the division they will pick 19 or higher.

Winning the division is still the goal. Even if it drops us to 19th.

However I didn't think too many will be upset if we lose to get at least the 10th pick. Except the hard core tankers that think we should have lost out. Which I am sure they will be whining over that for years.

Yup, especially after Jerruh and company blow the pick

Rams don't play Seattle this week. They play Arizona. Goff has a broken thumb and Murray has a leg injury.

Oops. My bad. Unfortunately, it's too late to edit. Thanks for pointing that out.

let’s hope the Rams win and TB loses. And we win the division. We could play a Goff-less Rams at home.

Blow the pick like they did in 2019 with Lamb, Diggs, Gallimore, and Biadasz or like they did in 2018 with LVE, C. Williams, M. Gallup, D. Armstrong, D. Shultz, and C. Wilson? Those darn Jones boys!
I feel like those who still think the Jones’s screw up drafts have not payed attention for almost 10 years. It should be common knowledge now that if there’s anything this FO can do at an above average level it’s drafting. Especially in the first round as all but one pick (Taco) in the last 11 years has been a pro-bowler or all-pro.

I’d say we pick 32.That sounds better to me.

Yeah, the Cowboys were 2-7 at one point- but over half the league was just as bad - 9 teams with records 3-6 or worse. But after the loss to the Steelers, I felt the Cowboys were going to win a few games over the remainder of the season.

Truth is we can have the right guy fall to us and do very well. If any franchise is aware of that it should be Dallas and their fans, fresh off drafting CD. Besides that most should feel much better about the future going forward. To sustain this many injuries (with a new coaching staff) and still make a late season push albeit in a weak division, is impressive. The adversity this team has had to overcome as well as the experience our backups have gained is invaluable going forward. A month ago we were talking about blowing the whole thing up and rebuilding. Fans should take solice in our meager accomplishments this season. Perhaps our future isn't as doom and gloom as forecasted.
