An exciting football game, to say the least. I have to say, I knew this would be a tough game to win for both teams, but if anything I think more of the Cowboys' team now than I did before the game. I predicted a 31-24 Seahawk victory, and much to my dismay, that solid defense of yours really hampered us yesterday. You'll win ball games with that defense.
Both teams were missing key starters on offense and defense. We had no deep threat with D-Jack (our speed guy and #1 WR) and Engram (our "hands" guy and #2 WR) both out of the game. And you had trouble protecting Bledsoe without a healthy O-line and missing your #1 RB. But both teams knew we had those injuries going into the game and had to prepare a game plan to account for it.
I find it interesting how so many Cowboy fans and players can call it "dominating" a team for most of the game. It was never once more than a one-score football game, how can that be considered dominating? I'd call it a defensive epic, in which Seattle just made the right plays at the right time to win the game. Granted if Cortez doesn't miss the kick, the Cowboys most likely win. But if Williams doesn't fumble the punt just before, then the 'Boys most likely don't even get a shot at that field goal. So, it goes in both directions there. Anyone can easily say "If we played perfect and they still made the mistakes that they made we would have won."
I think both defenses played well. Both QB's had throws that were picked off after bouncing out of their WR's hands that completely changed the makeup of the game as well. Openening Drive, if Warrick catches that ball instead of flubbing it, the 'Hawks probably take a 3-0 or 7-0 lead early in the game. If Hasselbeck hadn't thrown the pick to Stevens that gave Dallas it's field goal possession then the Seahawks probably will win it 10-7.
Yes Dallas made mistakes that cost them the game, but our boys made mistakes too. We could be the ones poinint out all our mistakes and licking our wounds if the game had gone the other way, which it easily could have.
We had a good kicking game from Josh, and this time he made the kick for the win, whereas 4 weeks ago at FedEx field in DC he hits the left upright in the EXACT same situation only from 47 yards....forcing overtime.
You could say that Seattle took this game as much as you could say that Dallas gave it away. The sub-par offense from both teams surely had something to do with the opposing team's defenses, right? That and a wet football. Give the Cowboys credit. I honestly think that they are the best 4-3 team in football. I was ready yesterday to say the same thing about my Seahawks.
I don't think it's fair for Dallas to say "We dominated them for 57 minutes." The football game I watched yesterday was anything but dominated by either team, it was as close as they come.
And just because I'm a 'Hawks fan I gotta say it. Redemption from last season's game which ended in a remarkably similiar fashion, only in the Cowboys favor.
I think the Cowboys will win the NFC East. I think it's possible that the 'Boys and the 'Hawks may face each other for a trip to the Superbowl.
