UFO science key to halting climate change: former Canadian defense minister

OTTAWA (AFP) - A former Canadian defense minister is demanding governments worldwide disclose and use secret alien technologies obtained in alleged UFO crashes to stem climate change, a local paper said Wednesday.

"I would like to see what (alien) technology there might be that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within a generation ... that could be a way to save our planet," Paul Hellyer, 83, told the Ottawa Citizen.

Alien spacecrafts would have traveled vast distances to reach Earth, and so must be equipped with advanced propulsion systems or used exceptional fuels, he told the newspaper.

Such alien technologies could offer humanity alternatives to fossil fuels, he said, pointing to the enigmatic 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico -- which has become a shrine for UFO believers -- as an example of alien contact.

"We need to persuade governments to come clean on what they know. Some of us suspect they know quite a lot, and it might be enough to save our planet if applied quickly enough," he said.

Hellyer became defense minister in former prime minister Lester Pearson's cabinet in 1963, and oversaw the controversial integration and unification of Canada's army, air force and navy into the Canadian Forces.

He shocked Canadians in September 2005 by announcing he once saw a UFO.

I grew up in New Mexico. We used to play a High School team from Roswell, the Goddard Rockets.

It's named after Robert Goddard who is one of the first geniuses of rocket powered propulsion. Mr. Goddard died in 1945 but his work continued on in Roswell after his death and later moved to White Sands missile range.

I have never understood why people believe the Roswell "UFO" incident because of this. Clearly it was the continuation of his work. The infamous alien autopsy photos have all been debunked as fake. Yet this belief still continues.

I'm not saying there aren't UFOs and alien life that visits here. I personally don't believe in it, but my own dad swears he saw a UFO when he was a pilot and his account of it has never changed. Clearly he's convinced. So are others who have seen things they cannot rationally explain away.

Roswell 1947 can rationally be explained away. Unless someone wants to tell me why aliens crashed right in the very part of the United States where this science was having its genesis. A little too convenient for me.

Maybe not so clearly I meant my post to be in jest.

Having a high government official(albeit former and aged) of a close ally to the United States dispense a theory of some top secret UFO propulsion systems kept under guard would be amusing if it were not so sad (or scary for that matter)that an official would actually make such a claim.

This sort of statement would be equal to Henry Kissinger coming out and saying governments world wide should give up the info obtained from UFOs on how they fed themselves on such long journeys across space, as to help solve the world hunger problem.

I wasn't meaning to suggest you believe any of the article Jack. Just kind of commenting on that particular topic as I see it all the time.

My brother-in-law is a professional magician. Here's his site.

http://www.davismagic.com/

He performed in Roswell during one of their big "alien conventions" and on his way back home to Phoenix they stopped here to eat and shoot the breeze. He was convinced they were right. It blew him away that no one there told him about Goddard or any of his studies.

I wasn't the least bit shocked. I've earned my cynicism.

My Twin brother and I .....always get a kick out of it.....when we tell how it happened and what we saw......most dont believe us.....Oh well....we have no reason to lie....believe what u want......but for me.......there is something out there...

Personally I believe in UFO's. Just not that they come from other worlds.I believe in life throughout the universe. I just don't think that they have visited here. Too many techno hurdles. But I still watch every show about UFO's and the unexplained. I guess I want to believe.

I think our government LOVES all the UFO speculation and hoopla. It makes a nice cover for all the experimental aircraft.

I agree, there are just too many planets out there for there to not be at least one other semi-advanced/advanced race out there. Now if/when they have visited us that I don't know. But I do believe that aliens exist but they may be no smarter than a dolphin or as dumb as an ostrich, or even as smart(er) than we are. The universe is just to big, but then again I could be wrong.(wouldn't be the first time. )
