Let me start by saying that I respect Drew Bledsoe a great deal. That TD run tonight was to let all the fans know he will never quit, and he thinks/knows he can get the job done. Heart of a lion, and I respect that.

The bad thing is that Drew's feet and body aren't as fast and strong as his heart and guts.

Tony Romo has not had a chance for alot of playing time...TRUE

Tony Romo will make some rookie-type mistakes still....TRUE (but so was Drew, after 14 YEARS!)

Tony Romo has a great supporting cast, that he successfully marched all over the field during the preseason, and at times, the last 5 quarters.....TRUE

Tony Romo has the abilities AND agilities AND mobilities that Drew doesn't....TRUE

TONY ROMO WILL LEAD THIS TEAM INTO THE PLAYOFFS.....TRUE!

I have faith...his mistakes will decrease, he will get more reps at practice, the team wants him in there (as we could see tonight by the little extra pep-in-their-step after he entered the game). This is a good time and a good team. We will gel more and more each week. The tools are there...we can do it!

We could still do alot better at quarterback, but he can and will get the job done.

GO COWBOYS!

I'm all for being excited about Romo. But it's these over-the-top predictions that make the cynical Cowboys fans instantly hate Romo.

See: Fan reaction, Drew Henson.

That was all you. Henson never had a chance, he never deserved a chance, and the coaches never thought he had or deserved a chance. Comparing Romo to the coat hanger abortion of Drew Henson is horribly insulting to Tony Romo.

I always thought Henson was complete and utter crap...what he did in Europe and here showed us nothing. Romo has potential written all over his face.

I don't disagree, but tell me this.....How is saying we should still make the playoffs over the top? With all of the other injuries and weak teams, we are still in the thick of things.

We will have our hard times, but as long as the mistakes aren't the kinds that cost us games, we could and should play well enough to get to the post-season. Right?

Do you disagree with that?

All me? I was actually quite pleased when we released Henson given his continued decline on the practice field over a two-year period. Not sure where you're coming from with that comment.

Now, I did want Henson to start in place of Testaverde -- but at no point in time thereafter. I was much more in favor of Bledsoe starting last year and at no point wanted Henson to start.

But, back to my original point....it's these continuing comparisons to Roethlisberger and Brady that make those that are skeptical of Romo shake their head and laugh with every bad pass.

If you've read my posts, then you'll know I'm glad he's now starting. For better or worse, it's the right move. He has some skills and we need to know exactly what we have.

At the same time, not everyone feels that way. And these sorts of posts -- like those over-the-top ones with Henson -- make the doubters even more venomous when said player fails.

First off, I'm not convinced this TEAM is playoff ready. I think Bledsoe has been our biggest cold sore but other problems have certainly emerged.

Secondly, I just think it's a tall task to *expect* Romo to take us to the playoffs. He's a first-year starter now and looked green tonight -- as expected. He's going to make mistakes.

As I said in another thread, I didn't even realize he was my avatar until someone pointed it out. Just not that important to me. Find me a good photo and I'll gladly change. Just havent taken the time to do so, as it's just not that important to me (notice I've had the same signature since Julius' rookie year).

I was being sarcastic, it wasnt at all serious. I was just hoping you would find a classic pic of Emmit or Troy or something to fulfull the space we all have to look at. It was nothing serious!

With all respect, I disagree...we have the talent, no doubt, and some things are coming together quite well....I think our O-line won't look as bad with a more mobile qb back there...defense will get more rest with a guy that actually looks at multiple receivers on a play and therefore sustains more drives by moving the ball around.....this talent is on its way to peaking...it's close...just needs to be more consistent, and it will be.

Also, no one is EXPECTING HIM to take us to the playoffs....they are expecting him to know the offense he has been in for four years, and lead the team he has been handed the way he has thought about in his head since he has been here waiting or the opportunity. If he does those things, and plays 75% as well as he did in the preseason and the better part of the last 3 quarters he's played, it will happen.

As I yours...let's hope this all ends up like we all want it to, right. I just want to win, nd I know we can mostly all agree that with what we have to play with, Romo is our best shot!

As bad as Dale's avatar is and truly should be changed...I'd like to see JustSayNotoTO change his even more. But that's just me.

In all seriousness, yes we as Cowboy fans would love to see Romo not only take us to the playoffs but win a SuperBowl. I don't think none of us would be disappointed in that if he did. Our QB shouldn't have to win us games. He just shouldn't be a main reason we lose games. And that has been the case recently. Brady and Ben were never asked to be the reasons there teams won. The needed to make plays but their supporting casts were what won them Super Bowls. Of course the media loves to portray the QB as the reason but that wasn't the case and doesn't need to be with the Boys.

All in all if Romo learns to not make the same mistakes that Coach/Fan Killer Bledsoe made we could very well win this year. Now I think it is a long shot w/Romo but just as good a shot as what we had w/Bledsoe under center. Here's for some good decision making by the QB.
