the only thing that gives me hope is we've not lost 2 games in any month all season.
2-1...sep
4-1...oct
2-1...nov
4-1...dec
0-1...jan
so if the trend holds...we go on a winning streak in the play-offs.

twice this season we opened a month with a loss.
sept and nov.
each time we responded with a 4 game winning streak.
if the trend holds...we're winning the super bowl.
Except is a new year and we're 0-1
We might beat the Bucs because they're terrible too, but that's where the winning streak (if it even starts) ends!

This was Nick Eatmans take that the season ended much like it had begun.

No doubt we laid an egg not looking like a team that had anything to play for. We would have been better off resting our starters.

But perhaps this will serve as a wake up call heading to Tampa. If not and there is carryover then it will be another season with heavy controversy around our QB and HC.

Starting the playoffs just as the regular season started... with a loss to Brady's Bucs. ;)

I said this last night. But the only light glimmer of hope I can see is that each and every player except for Lamb sucked as well. That just shows you that this team from top to bottom wasn’t interested in playing yesterday. They better be next week or they are going to get trounced

I think as a coach you need to recognize that and either correct it or rest the players. What we saw yesterday shouldn't have happened. Don't get me wrong; the players are responsible for their effort. I just want to see the coach has a good read on his team. It may be impossible to know, but I'd wager there were signs

I think after a point he was being stubborn and just kept them out there. Luckily no one got hurt. No one in on that field in blue wanted any part of this game.

I was thoroughly disgusted with that game yesterday. That pathetic effort yesterday from the Cowboys was amazingly similar in almost every way to the game on opening night vs the Bucs. When you look at the stats of both games, it’s eerily similar.
Look at how the stats compare between both games, especially concerning the Line of scrimmage and penalties:
  • Bucs yards rushing in Sept: 152
  • Commanders yds rushing in Jan: 151
  • Cowboys rushing yds vs Bucs in Sept: 71
  • Cowboys rushing yds vs Comm in Jan: 64
  • Cowboys penalties and yds vs Bucs in Sept: 10/74
  • Cowboys penalties and yds vs Comm in Jan: 6/73
One other thing that stood out yesterday that was similar to the opening night loss was how pathetic Dak played and how easily the Commander DBs could cover the Cowboys routes. Like that buccaneers game on opening night, no one was open and on the rare occasion they were, Dak‘s throws were terrible. We have the most basic route trees in the NFL with so many simple curl routes or slants and very few crossing routes from stacked formations.

That effort last night was completely pathetic. I understand the game meant nothing since the egirls won. But the Cowboys effort and game plan looked like a pre-season game.

Can the Cowboys flip a switch? I guess so. But the teams that are capable of doing that and then getting on a roll in the playoffs are rare. The talk all week leading up to yesterday’s game was the Cowboys did not have a good week of practice. That better change immediately or the season ends in Tampa this weekend.
Frustrating loss and a good comparison of the two games, but I was wondering yesterday if the Cowboys put a simple game plan on film yesterday rather than open the playbook like they might do in the playoffs?

But the Zeke averaged over 5 yards per carry in the first game of the year. He was under 3 yesterday. On top of the inability to stop the rookie from looking like an all-pro QB.

Here are some stats from yesterday's game.

The Cowboys were 4 of 18 on 3rd downs. Washington was 3-14. That's right. Washington converted only 3 3rd downs in 14 attempts.

Dallas had 10 3 and outs. This is an astonishing statistic to me. But considering Dak's completion percentage and the 78% failure on 3rd down conversions it is easy to understand why.

Something else to ponder. Dak averaged 3.0 yards per pass. Washington averaged 7.2.

Dallas averaged 2.4 yards per rush. Washington averaged only 3.7 but rushed for 151 yards.

I don't know where the Cowboys go from here but this performance will be hard for them to forget. It has to eat at their confidence a little.
