Jerry Jones built this defensive roster, not Eberflus. To blame the DC for not making chicken salad from chicken^^^t is to miss the point entirely.

What DC in this league builds his roster? What the DC does is take what he has, figure out what they do well, and build a scheme around it. Eberflus has done a poor job by any metric.

Diggs shouldn’t be on the field. A better GM would’ve seen that coming after his injuries and traded him for a 4th or 5th round pick before the season started.

That one player makes a big difference, especially in a scheme that depends on pressure from the front four.

But I agree, it wouldn't matter, cause Eberflus would probably have him line up at MLB and cover the HB or some dumb thing like that.

This defense is a direct result of a) Joneses hiring the wrong guy and the wrong scheme for this roster simply because they've paid him before b) Joneses trading away their best player that was absolutely critical to the success of this wrong scheme and c) Joneses adding players through the draft and free agency and trades that weren't any good and also weren't any good for this scheme and d) the coach not adjusting his wrong scheme to his players and e) the players are also bad and the front office refuses to upgrade them because they think the coach and scheme they hire will fix them.

It's a cluster all the way around, from the front office to the coach to the players. But it all starts with the GMs making dumb football decisions based on ego and hope.

That is absolutely right, the two first round picks need to be a one technique defensive tackle to stop the run and collapse the pocket. And a big aggressive middle linebacker, athletic enough to cover running backs and tight ends, as well as being a thumper in run support. Dallas needs an enforcer in the middle of this defense. They need a defensive coordinator other than Matt Eberflus to run the defense though. The lack of a true middle linebacker to make tackles killed Dallas against Carolina.

I’m a 31 year old who played high school football, but I have zero coaching experience. I literally called that slant across the middle on 4th down before it happened because our dumb a*** DB was lined 10 yards off with only 3 yards to go for them. That comes down to coaching period.

It doesn't matter what level you play. Football is football at the base level. No need for anything fancy when a team gives it to you.

More soft zone. Seven men in the box. Corners 10 yards off the ball. Hardly ever sent an extra defender at the QB. Just a horrible gameplan and one he refused to change. All week you have Rico running his mouth and you know they are going to feed him the ball with a QB in Young that really cant throw the ball.

Put eight men in the damn box, send five guys at the QB and man the hell up in coverage and get out of that zone. I was at the ballgame and it was just painful to watch.

Also, Jerry looks like he's put on 50 pounds and had a limp. Looked horrible.

I figure a defensive coordinator would have enough sense to at least tell his corners to play closer to Carolina wide receivers, instead of 8 to 10 yards off the receiver. I would have to agree with you on some of the roster however, Elam, Diggs and Donavan Wilson are terrible in the secondary. Dallas needs a real middle linebacker bad, that is a missing piece as well. I don't like this zone scheme that Eberflus is running, I think he needs to be fired.
