FireFox 6.0 is great

I have long hated Firefox, back in 2.0, 3.0 when everyone was praising it and jumping from IE en masse I just disliked it, stuck to Opera, than when Chrome released I jumped the first day and have been using it since, it's been around 2 years I believe, this week.

Either way, I downloaded Firefox as I had to use an extension I knew it had and I am very impressed by 6.0. It has gained some of that Google Chrome sleekness, while losing the old clunky design. I'll probably be switching to FireFox soon, after I move my saved passwords over the next month or so. Anyone who has been avoiding FireFox try 6.0, it is great.

Interesting you should post on this topic. I upgraded to this version of FF and have been noticing that it hangs up when scrolling and when I hover my cursor over a link it can take 5 or more seconds to allow me to click. Now I do have quite a few extensions and several toolbars installed(amazon, fire.fm,stumbleupon, and aniweather I dumped today), and have deleted all but the most valued. I didn't really notice this problem until the last week or so. On the machine in question I have a quad core processor and 8 gigs of RAM so it's likely not a hardware issue. And I have no such issues with Chrome or Opera.

Everything else I like about FF and would prefer to keep it my primary browser but can't have it acting clunky and all. I would use IE if I were after that experience.

Not sure, it's been slightly slower than Chrome for me, but for the added extensions it seems worth it. Possibly reinstall? Maybe one of the files got corrupted, or didn't overwrite from the previous version. Honestly no clue since I have pretty much never used Firefox for more than just playing around or downloading movies, as it has great extensions for that.

I used to be a hardcore Opera guy. (actually run two browsers at once. Opera nd FF) Over the last few years it went terribly downhill. I gave it up and switched Opera to Chrome. Now I always have Chrome and FF open.

I've noticed that FF of late has been causing my NFL Preseason and my MLB.tv to be choppy sometimes. I've been using a different browser for those. Pisses me off a bit.

Yeah I have FF and Chrome opened most times at work. Sometimes I have to use IE for some older state sites.

I use FF mainly when I'm working on websites, listening to Pandora, and surfing twitter. Usually, I don't have any issues with how sites look on IE, but Firefox always requires more development than IE.

Sometimes twitter can hose on Firefox because of some script. It'll just hang up til I just shut down. I just use it as a sign that I shouldn't have twitter running during the work day, anyway.

IE+Google Chrome don't and i will never use .

Firefox:I don't know what is it but i find it slower and does crash often.
I mostly use Opera and Seamonkey and so far I am very happy with them.

Switched to Chrome sometime ago, and I've been happy ever since.

Used to love Firefox, but it started hanging, locking up, crashing, etc. I gave up on it, no plans to go back.

I've never used any browser that I liked more than Chrome. Once in a while I run into a site I can't get to work properly, and then I open IE for a few seconds, but I hate every one of those seconds.

I never used opera until it was brought up in one of these threads. But I like it bc where I'm at it's useful because of the slow connection in the area.

I'll have to give sea monkey a look see.

From my understanding SeaMonkey is pretty similar to an early FireFox.

Yeah, from their site...

SeaMonkey is built on the open source Mozilla Gecko engine, the same code which underlies the highly successful siblings Firefox and Thunderbird, as well as other projects such as Sunbird, Camino, Songbird and Miro. SeaMonkey benefits from the cross-fertilization with these other projects, by gaining (and contributing) new features and the ongoing security updates which are a modern necessity. The Mozilla Foundation provides hosting and legal backing for the SeaMonkey Project.

Firefox is a memory hog, and the people who created and work on it don't seem to want to resolve this issue any time soon. It does have great-add ins though.

I've switched to mainly using Chrome, which is the fastest, least memory intensive, fail-safe (each tab runs in a separate process), and is gaining extensions by the day.

I've not found one Chrome extension that is useful besides weather lol.

adblock is the only chrome extension I use, but I don't really look for extensions. I'm just trying to visit websites.
