Hey guys, I just wanted to see what you guys thought about how we should attack our first selection. As it stands right now we are selecting at #51, regardless of whether we stand pat, move up or down, what should our philosophy be? If you ask me our biggest needs are as follows, #1 Defensive Back (Cb or Safety-pending on this whole scandrick scenario) #2 NT, #3 OL. With that being said, Brian Robiskie is probably going to be drafted somewhere near the early-mid second round, in my opinion he is going to turn out of to be one of the best players drafted near our selection.

If the Dallas Cowboys personel people are as high on Robiskie as I am, would you prefer we draft Robiskie or any other BPA, or fill a more pressing need at defensive back, nose tackle, or offensive line? I personally think Robiskie is going to be a stud in the NFL and I just hope we can figure out a way to land him. So, BPA or fill a need? Is Wide receiver a pressing enough need to warrant drafting one with our first selection?

Both the BPA who fills a need. At our pick there should be LB, S, DL and maybe WR who would be BPA and be able to fill a need.

I think it's a combination of both BPA and need.

And for us, that isn't really a problem.

We could use a S, WR, OL, DL, LB, and even CB (depending on the Scandrick move).

We should have NO problem merging need and BPA at 51.

Well I would say our most pressing need is SS. Unless they fill that in FA, you can count on one with our first pick. They obviously have someone in the draft they really like, since they just cut Roy.

Robiskie will be gone before 51.

We can not trade up for a WR after giving up picks this draft for RW11.

We will likely go BPA out of the 3 or 4 positions where we have a need same as just about every team in football.

Because of scheme and use a BPA could fail miserably if their arent some considerations made.

is WR a big enough need to warrant drafting one with our first pick?

Once we cut TO and after his Combine showing, I'd go with Robiskie. I just think he is going to be a very good NFL receiver for the next 10 years. He's a coach's son and he appears to have ZERO ego which is rare for WR's.

Robiskie could very well be gone by 51, however, I do think there is a chance he is available. I definitely wouldn't say it is a guarantee he is gone, im not asking for crabtree lol.

Not at all.

If Robiskie is there and guys like Delmas, Smith, etc aren't, you have to consider him. He is probably going to go about 10 picks higher but he would have amazing value at 51.

BEST Player Available, always.

For example, I'd rather have the top ranked TE than the 12th ranked safety anyday.

Great players are great assets to have whereas as scrubs will always be scrubs.

No telling right now. We have no idea what Dallas is going to do.

I would draft a either SS, FS, CB, DE (if they don't get igor), and LB.

consider.Yes. Actually picking him.No

If we get a SS in FA like a Sean Jones then I will be on board with Brian at 51..until then..we need a SS, and I don't want to rely on a 4th rounder back there.

if we decide to select a CB, who do you guys think would be the best selection at CB? Let's say Sean Smith is not available.

I guarentee you that the top 5 consist of at least 3 safeties

Chung
Delmas
Johnson.

Last year's draft is the perfect example.

We already had a Pro-Bowl RB in Barber, then we took Felix in the first and with Choice on the board in the fourth we took him.

Worked out great last season, and if all three continue to perform, in a season or two, we'll be able to flip one for a pretty nice pick.

We will know what the Cowboys true need a few weeks before draft.

Don't mean to be a party pooper.

And I would hate to reach for a safety just for the sake of saying we got one. If one of the top S is at our pick great however if I have a DL who I have ranked higher then I go with the higher ranked player who is still filling a need and is looked at by my scouts as a more likely candidate to make it in the NFL. We don't need to go back to the Goodrich and Larrimore days of drafting. I need a DB lets grab this guy, it does not work.
