Twitter: First glimpse of 2025 Cowboys offense

I love the enthusiasm, but sometimes it can be hard to go from buddy to disciplinarian and to demanding accountability and effort when conflict arises. This is OTAs, so I have zero concerns. Ones the games start I'm sure it will be a little different
The culture that NFL coaches try to create now is they have to hold each other accountable...its so much a business now the HC has very few levers he can pull to even hold them accountable: case in point

The GM pays QB A telling the owner "This is the guy ill stake my job to it"
GM to the Coach: "Hey this QB has both our jobs in his hands"
Coach after QB plays bad: "Im gonna bench this QB"
GM to coach :"well we are both fired then"

I understand what BS is trying to achieve in the culture...achieving it in this teams FO enviroment is a competley diferent animal.

A lot of rah-rah and yippy type stuff with Schotty. We’ll see if it equates to a tough, physical football team. Call me skeptical.
Tony Dungy's coaching style centered on changing player habits to foster a team that performed instinctively and efficiently. He emphasized a conservative, ball-control offense and a "Cover 2" zone defense, particularly during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. He believed in building a strong team culture through respect, clear communication, and high standards, ultimately leading the Colts to a Super Bowl victory.

He was basically a father figure to these players and I know sometimes you have to be tough love thing but it's not always done in the public eye with yelling screaming and have a whip and chucking balls and throwing things at people I mean literally hey I can deal with that too I don't mind it that's not always the only way to win...

lol yup Barry was ahead of his time in philosophy..lol
Now that could work I don't see why people have a problem with it you remember Phil Jackson i'm pretty sure he was a very calm Zen like coach and he expected the superstars to be accountable and he could just relay that in private he didn't need to make a big deal on the sideline in embarrassed players or go full military on them.. So everyone has their own way some people can see it as weak and call it camp cupcake but other times people just call it a different approach..

im a big fan of Jimmy but he has straight up said his style (along with BP's and such) wouldn't work with todays athlete, they would just tune you out. As generations change so do the leaders that have to motivate them..it is what it is.
Somehow, I don't think Belichick would've had this style either, even in recent nfl history.

Thats a hard one its always gonna be chicken or egg type thing with the whole BB/TB teams...but i dont know that BB was like Jimmy as much as TB was ready to cut you at the knees if you didnt do your job, probably helped BB more than he will admit.

That's what winning Super Bowls sounds like.
Actually he sounds like he has dual personalities.....his tone and cadence sounded completely different when he talked with Mazi and then to Ferguson.

I'm just comfortable that hes being his authentic self

Seems as if he is trying to sound like the Miami HC….whatever the hell his name is.
Marc Anthony.

I thought he sounded like a kindergarten teacher trying to convince a room full of 5 year olds that lining up for a fire drill was not only beneficial, but could be FUN.

Schotty seems like the kind of guy that has a 10 year old hot tub on the back deck and pineapple shaped camper lights strung up for ambiance. Cooler full of Miller Lite and Jimmy Buffet tunes blaring complete the picture. …Not bad, actually. A guy’s guy.

I'm not sure it wouldn't work, but I don't think it would work for long. Players can respond to strong disciplinarians, especially to ones who've had success, but it wears quickly.

I don't have a problem with No-Schott being rah-rah as long as the team is disciplined and the scheme is effective. Those things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

So, in other words, the coaches need to baby the players, huh? Sounds about right with this generation.

By the way, was little Micah in attendance?

its less about being nice and more about what levers the HC actually has to correct behavior especially for a star player..again im not saying i agree with how it is, im just saying thats how it is now. Jimmy could cut first round draft picks..no HC has the power to do that now.
