MOCK DRAFT: Round 1
Pick Team Player Pos. School
1. Texans Reggie Bush RB Southern California
Forget the trade rumors; people lose jobs over passing on the next Barry Sanders.
2. Saints Matt Leinart QB Southern California
Not as much upside as other top QBs, but struggling franchise needs stability.
3. Titans Vince Young QB Texas
In Steve McNair and offensive coordinator Norm Chow, Young would have the mentors to be successful.
4. Jets D'Brickashaw Ferguson OT Virginia
Without a stronger line, offense will continue to struggle regardless of the quarterback.
5. Packers Mario Williams DE North Carolina State
Williams impressed at the Combine and is emerging as the top defensive talent in the draft.
6. 49ers Vernon Davis TE Maryland
Linebacker and defensive back are bigger needs, but Davis is skyrocketing and Alex Smith needs weapons.
7. Raiders A.J. Hawk OLB Ohio State
Long blond hair and an incredible nose for the football. Has Al Davis written all over him — and fills a big need.

Maroney remaining in-state is a nice public relations move — oh, and a big lift to the running game.

The Cowboys could add Wimbley, arguably the draft's top 3-4 rush linebacker, to play opposite DeMarcus Ware.
19. Chargers Tye Hill CB Clemson
The Chargers' front seven is too good to continue to be burned by an awful secondary.

The Chiefs defense improved last year, but too often relied on veterans on the downside of their careers.

Unless the Browns plan to unload more defensive linemen this year, the Broncos would be wise to add through the draft.
23. Buccaneers Ernie Sims OLB Florida State
Often compared to former Seminole Derrick Brooks, he could be drafted to replace him.
24. Bengals Kelly Jennings CB Miami
A bit slight for some schemes, Jennings is nonetheless one of the draft's top cover corners.

Winston proved he's regaining his athleticism with a strong Combine, and would give the Giants options.
26. Bears Marcedes Lewis TE UCLA
A bit of a reach at this point, but Lewis is a great target in the middle, something the Bears haven't had for years.
27. Panthers Nick Mangold C Ohio State
Veteran Jeff Mitchell is a free agent, and Carolina will consider a rare center deserving of a first-round grade.
28. Jaguars Jonathan Joseph CB South Carolina
The Jags need better play opposite Rashean Mathis, and Joseph is steadily moving up the charts.
29. Broncos Chad Jackson WR Florida
With two first-round picks, the Broncos can afford to take a gamble on Jackson, whose Combine workout has him soaring up the charts.
30. Colts Joseph Addai RB LSU
With the increasingly likely loss of Edgerrin James to free agency, an all-around back makes a lot of sense.

Seattle can't rely on either Jamie Sharper or D.D. Lewis. Ryans has the range and heart to fit in here.
32. Steelers Sinorice Moss WR Miami
With the expected loss of Antwan Randle El to free agency, look for the Steelers to add speed at wideout.

Kamerion Wimbley DE Florida St
Strengths
Kamerion has solid pass-rushing skills and has good speed to go along with those skills. He gives great effort on every play and looks to be a good teammate. He has exceptional strength for the college level and quick change of direction ability, which should help him a lot at the next level.
Needs to Improve
Kamerion is coming off a knee injury that I, personally, do not feel he's recovered from mentally. He doesn’t continue his moves if his initial move gets stoned. He does not carry enough bulk and he is not strong at the point of attack. He doesn't use his hands very well. However, the biggest problem I see is that he's still worried about his knee. He will not make that tight cut around the corner, dip his shoulder and go under the block to get to the QB.
Bottom Line
In my opinion, Kamerion is a tweener DE/OLB, but I’m not convinced he has the agility to be an OLB. Kamerion is definitely concerned about hurting his knee again or his knee is not quite right yet. If he gets clear sailing to a QB, he looks fine. However, if an O-lineman gets his hands on this kid, he shuts down and doesn’t finish the job. Kamerion has to add a lot more bulk to his frame without affecting his speed and quickness. If you use him at OLB, he's still not stout at the point of attack. That means he comes into the league as a situational pass rusher who is concerned about getting injured. That’s not enough for me to rate him as a first round pick! He does have talent and he looks to be a good kid overall with a strong work ethic. That shows me a lot. He has enough talent to work with, along with good size and speed. If you can get him over the mental injury issue and bulk him up, then you just might have yourself a pretty good player. Kamerion is a long range developmental DE, but I think he's an excellent one to take the time to develop.

Wimberly over Lawson? I highly doubt it, unless there is some information about the two I am not aware of.

This mock draft guy did some homework. We've been all over Wimberley at the Sr. Bowl and now the Combine.
Also, tonight on NFL Network's Combine coverage Mike Mayock flatly said Wimberley was the absolute best LBer in the draft at turning the corner on the pass rush at flattening out to the QB.
He ran a 4.63 today. I expect his stock to continue to rise.
Also fwiw, JFE says she's hearing LBer at #18.

But at 18? Isn't that a little high for Wimberley?

Depending on what else is there, I wouldn't mind him at #18 at all. He's a great leader, shows great maturity. He's consistently compared to Demarcus Ware. He ran a very good 40 time, and his agility drills were very good also. I think you could do worse...

Oh, by the way here is one observer's report of Wimberley today after the Combine drills: Kamerion Wimbley/Florida State looked outstanding in drills and also looked good at Linebacker.

How come no one is talking about Ryan LaCasee. He weighed in at 267lbs and ran a 4.54? Was he really unproductive in college? Mark Anderson weighed in at 254lbs and ran a 4.61. He is a very similar player to Wimberely.

Why is DE NC ST Manny Lawson missing from this 1st rd draft? I read where many of the Zoners felt he would be gone before we pick.......
