It looks as though Choice could and should have took that play to the house. The saftey drops in the box late and gets Choice to the ground with an arm tackle. The FB does a great job and seals the ILB. Free does a great job and turns the DE out and a huge line is there for Choice. If he runs through that arm tackle, he is off to the races.

Does anyone have a video of the first offensive play against the Rams from our 2 yard line.

I thought the same thing but then I remembered that they were backed up against their goal line and the priority there is get some breathing room so he lowered his head and drove forward. I've not been a Choice fan at all this year but I really cannot fault him there because he did what a good running back does in that area. There is a huge difference between running from the 3 yard line and running from the 9.

Dez should have fielded the punt, so Dallas would not have been pinned down at the 3 yard line. I guess everything happens for a reason.

I'm not on the bash Choice wagon. My angle on this thread was more the play of the FB and the offensive line. On both the Choice run and the long TD run, they opened up major holes. I love the play of Fiammeta (sp). Luraniteus (sp) the MLB for the Rams is a good player and Fia really held him in check on the isolation plays.

While I agree with what you are saying about having the ball on the 2 yard line, Choice has to break that arm tackle. As much as I dislike Merrill Hodge, if you want to be a 'factor back' you break that tackle and make the play. The oline really blocked that play well and there was no chance that Choice would be tackled for a loss on that play.

And another thing, Hudson Houck is doing a good job attempting to make line adjustments as games develop through. Earlier gaffs by the line are often removed by the start of the second halves of games. Here also, he is figuring out soft boxes to open up and allow the running back through. This last game, all directions and work showed up. As was pointed out in a fine thread OP by Hot_Toddy, the fullback position's value has been shown invaluable.

This would be a good time for couchscout to focus on trends and development of our center, Phil Costa...but for now, I am happy with the addition of Holland and the return of Derrick Dockery.

exactly what i said when i saw it. Nothing but green grass and a chance to make a name for himself, but of course he gets arm tackled. Man choice go down easy.
