Only the wording will change. The same threads as previous years:

We should have drafted this guy.

We should have taken this guy over that guy.

We should have made this trade.

We shouldn't have made that trade.

Blah blah blah.

On a positive note, we can start the undrafted free agency speculation!!!!!

don't forget "we need a real GM" threads

While I agree that I don't want him, Alexander was cut because he was being paid like an elite back. He got injured and never was 100%.

I wouldn't do it unless it's absolutely dirt cheap. Like vet minimum to bring him in here and let him compete for some time in the 3 man rotation.

Why not? We have Barber so we don't really need Alexander to be a star and if he comes in and plays well it couldn't hurt us.

I agree. We need a back-up, not a starter. If he doesn't get a starting job somewhere else I would take him in a second. I would rather have Alexander in a pinch than a rookie. Draft a rookie and let him develop.

Then why let go of Julius?

He's younger and has produced more than alexander. Not to mention he knows the playbook

Again, dirt cheap or not, i'd rather a rookie be our second RB, then Alexander.
No matter how cheap the vet min is, it would be not only a waste of money, but a waste of time developing a young back.

I'm in the camp that we shouldn't have gotten rid of Julius. But we probably won't get a rookie RB in the first round. Maybe Charles, but he's not going to even be as good as Jones is as a pro. We could probably get someone just as good in the later rounds.

Shaun Alexander might be the only RB in the NFL who runs weaker than Julius Jones did. I think he's going to have a hard time finding a new home, and I hope it's not here.
I have never, ever been impressed with Shaun Alexander, and often wondered why everyone else was.

Maybe we shouldn't have, but you don't redeem it by signing a player older, and just as injury prone the last 3 years to replace him.

We may not draft a RB in the first round, but either way we need to stay young at the position. RB is not a position for old people. This is not Jerry Rice we're bringing in to run a few routes.

Can he pass protect?
Can he provide anything barber doesn't?
Can he learn an entire system in less than a off season?

These are questions i'd much rather a 23 year old rookie answer, than a 30 year old, recently injured RB.

When you score TD's, and gain yards, and live in seattle, everyone's gonna be impressed.

Mainly because no one can see just how badly you really run.

I agree.

Shaun Alexander has developed the most dreadful thing a running back can have - fear.

He's been 'running scared' for the past two seasons.

And I think he'll have to redeem himself if he wants his career to continue. And from his recent comments, he doesn't appear to have a clue.

I would pick up Kevin Jones before I would touch Shaun Alexander.

I would never want a guy on my team that jumps around and dances like a flower on the sideline during a playoff game against the lowly Commanders.

If Seattle cut Alexander because they signed Julius, what else needs to be said?

Its only one sentence... yet it tells the entire story of both players.

Exactly. The guy has all the physical tools, but is one of the softest backs I've ever seen play.

I have always thought from day one...well, not day one, but from day one when he became an All Pro that he was soft and overrated. Was never impressed.
