Just rewatched some of the game on NFL Game Pass. On that first play of the final drive (the incomplete pass to DEZ), Beasley was WIDE open way downfield. Nobody was close to him. I wish I knew how to take a screen shot of it to post here. If Cassel would have hit him in stride, it might have been a TD. At the very least, the Cowboys would have been in FG range easily. It almost made me sick to my stomach.
I noticed plenty of other plays where guys were open as well. Made me even more upset at the QB play.

Cassel missed open players all night unfortunately. Dez was open for a TD at one point, and while he completed a pass to witten its upsetting to see Dez streaking into the end zone about 5 yards deeper then Witten. Cassel is what he is unfortunately, a pretty normal backup QB.

Yep. Noodle Arm also under threw Dez by a country a mile when he had Sherman beat down the sideline. If Romo was in, Dez would have walked into the end zone.

Yup we lost yesterday because of the difference between Romo and Cassel more then anything else. The Seahawks aren't a juggernaut team right now, they're a staggering team but they still have, at worst, an above average QB.

When has Weasley done anything. WHat is the love fest with this guy? Will you stop and get real. He doesnt do anything that any other football player does except fumble and not much else. Are we soooo desperate that if a player does a mediocre job we are all over him as the greatest thing. This is Bruce Carter and Pat Watkins all over again. Learn guys . Weasley isnt going to do anything impressive.

OMG was he, omg i need his autograph, the guy is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, i am loving that, open on one play. Did it ever dawn on you the defender probably knew he wasnt going to be targeted. Or get thrown too. Sad part is thats probably the case "naaaah coach, imma gonna read my magazine, they aint throwing to him"

How am i hating, whats he done?

Hey, at least it didn't hang in the air for 4 seconds like the "punt" against the Giants.

without using stats, or if you need them, use them, what has he done? Hes made a few plays yes, he gets paid for that, i dont want to hurt your feelings but other teams have guys that do that. Has he done anything to promote anyone really feeling confident hes done enough to say "yea i think if Beasley gets the ball he can do something" or has been another player who catches the ball and gets praise for doing it?

He can sometimes move the ball and he can sometimes fumble the ball. So whats he really done?

He has no chemistry with this team. The situation they put him in was awful. They go with Weeden for 2 years with him taking first team reps, and then pull the plug on him after 4 weeks and go to a guy who had been on the team a month.

Colossal failure in QB development and talent eval, coupled with a desperate attempt to save the season

It dont matter the QB would have under threw him or over thrown it, our receivers can't do nothing if our QB can't get them the ball. Has all day to throw and he's sacked of throws a dump off.

[See="Staubacher, post: 6381684, member: 35872"]That was honestly the worst uncontested NFL throw I've ever seen.[/quote]

See: Joe Flacco vs 49ers, 2015.

That pretty much sums up the situation. It's almost arrogance. They had to know Brandon Weeden had nothing. Matt Cassel coming in after a few weeks, wow.

The problem with both Weeden and Cassel is that they don't have the ability to manipulate a defense. Romo does so much more with his eyes and coverage recognition than is ever seen by the average football fan. He moves safeties with his eyes. He calls out coverages right to the face of a defense (I remember last year him telling the Eagles MLB to "come on up" as he was making his line adjustments. He KNEW the defense they were trying to fool him with).

When you have QBs that lack that ability you are going to have WRs that are "wide open" at some point in the route. The problem is that the reason they are wide open is because the QB is typically past them in his read progression and the QB doesn't have the time in the pocket to get back to them once he's been deemed "covered" early in the play. The reason Romo (and many other top tier QBs) make those throws to these "wide open WRs" is because he's moved the safety off that spot with his eyes and he KNOWS that WR is going to be "wide open" later in the read progression. That's why Romo is the king of extended play heroics. It's also the reason that he's successful in an unimaginative offense that relies solely on flawless execution. Romo does a lot more than just QB this team. He covers a lot of the deficiencies in this organization from top to bottom. He has the entire time he's been the starting QB for this franchise. You need no more proof than the last five weeks.

I noticed Beasely running free as well. Probably a blown coverage where two guys went with Dez and none with Bease. Easy TD.
