i'm a fan from Montreal and been actively coming to this board on a dayli basis for a few years now yet dont post often was just wondering ...besides Dez being a year older, re singning Free. T Smithin camp ect, How is this team better then last year ?.....yes free agency is early moves may happen team is starting healthy,( lets just hope we stay that way) demons from last year are over !!!

Rob Ryan and his no bs attitude on Defense

This will help the team more then any player will have or sign--period.

Alan ball wont be playing safety, the biggest one. Leonard Davis won't be turnstiling, and we wont be forcing the ball to Marion Barber. For starters.

Believe it or not, releasing guys like Davis, Columbo, Williams, and Barber has improved the team. These guys had huge contracts but the Cowboys where not getting much investment back. It is widely believed that the only reason why guys like Barber and Williams played a majority of the snaps last years was to justify their huge contracts. Unfortunately, this also prevented more capable guys from seeing the field. Now with them gone, we get younger and possibly more productive at those positions with guys that we already have. Just my two cents...

Lee will be an improvement over Brooking esp in coverage.

Newman is healthy again and will play well.

Ball is gone at safety. Only good thing to say about safety right now.

Brent is going to be a great sub for Ratliff. This will improve Ratliff by giving him some rest.

Can't discuss DE too up in the air right now.

RT improved with Smith. Holland will be at least as good as Davis. Rest of OL good as resigned left side.

Romo a year older and wiser.

Murray will add speed and pass catching. If he's as fast as some of his times then he will add another dimension to the running game.

Phillips is back as the H/F back and of the three TEs he is by far the best at that. That keeps Witten from having to do it and be elsewhere. Opens up the offense and playbook more.

Dez is a year older and healthy and in shape.

We're better than last year because we still have options. And we should have options for a little while.

On top of that, a new coach can do wonders.

We shall see.

I'm optimistic.

I would have to say the BIGGEST way that we're better is the general culture change that has taken place since RED J took over. The attitude change. I feel like we're the 'good guys' again, like in the Landry era.

Our defense will be NASTIER than last year. Rob Ryan will know how to utilize Ware, Ratliff, Spencer, etc. in ways we haven't seen before. I can't wait to see our defense.
