The Montreal Alouttes are reportedly close to a deal with free agent Charles Rogers.

The Lions are still trying to get about $10 million from Rogers, the No. 2 overall pick in 2003, for violating the terms of his $55 million rookie deal. Montreal GM Jim Popp says the Alouttes wouldn't use Rogers as a deep threat, which is a good plan. The last we heard he was running his forty in the 4.8-4.9 range. May. 9 - 11:26 am et

that's slow even for a tight end. i just don't get it. how can a guy lose that much speed in such a short while? it wasn't even like as if he was a workout warrior. the guy had a very good college career.

can the losing culture of the lions have anything to do with the guy just losing the desire to drive himself for the better? if that was the case, then going to canada and being with the little league probably won't do his psyche any good either.

maybe he can learn to play tight end or get even fatter and become a lineman.

Hey, what was that song for the NFL Draft that he was in with Ray Lewis?
"I'm Charles Rogers....I caught 62 catches and something"
:laugh2:
Hopefully the Commanders get the same production from another Michigan State receiver.

Amazing how some people can flush away such talent.

He'll probably go down in history as one of the greatest draft busts of all time.

That's partly true, but injuries early in his career had a big part in it also.

On a side note, the Texans should send the Lions a huge thank you gift. Had the Lions not drafted Rogers, I wonder if the Texans would have taken him instead of Johnson.

And to think I wanted the Cowboys to take a flyer on him after he got released. What a waste of money that would have been.

..were the big problem with him..it was a broken or dislocated ankle, wasn't it..?

When those wheels get injured..it's a disaster on these speed guys.

Too bad.

Just glad it wasn't us.

Looks as though he developed a bit of a mid section while in Detroit. He also had an affection for the wacky tobacky. What a waste of talent...

I think it had something to do with having the body type of a Nigerian Marathon Runner than a football player.

How does Mat Millen still have a job?
