This has been a really rough stretch for Quarterbacks chosen in the first round. Bolded are the ones you can argue even remotely had any tiny smidge of success in the NFL. And some might even question those. Joe Flacco had a brief run where he looked pretty good, but I don't think he was any elite long term QB. Was on a couple of awesome teams, but he wasn't doing anything other QBs of his era wasn't destroying him on. Matt Ryan is a success any way you argue it. Stafford is mostly a success, but we'll see how much of that was because he had a tailor built offense for him at Detroit for like 12 years.
Newton is a success if your mind stops working at 2015. And I know he reached a Super Bowl, but he seemed a brief hit. Washed up at 31, pretty much on borrowed time now, soon to be replaced by Mac Jones..... he's not as horrible as the others, but he'll be forgotten fast.
Luck was considered great during all the years at Indy, so you gotta call him a success even if he didn't play for long. Tannehill is still surprisingly going strong, tho it took him leaving Miami to do that. Goff was looking good for 2 years, but since that Super Bowl he seems headed in the wrong direction - could possibly be forgotten like Newton although Detroit is just a terrible franchise for anyone. He was even traded by a Super Bowl hungry team, and that's a huge sign of disrespect.
And Carson Wentz I'll have currently in bold, but in 5 years time if he fails at Indy he'll be forgotten too and will probably be like a Joe Flacco. Rarely thought of again.
There's like 3 QBs here currently viewed positively by most NFL guys. Ryan, Luck, Tannehill, and maybe Stafford. Pretty much everyone else are considered either busts, or guys heavily looked down on by the current NFL viewpoint. Obviously some of these guys their careers are not done, but as we speak only 5 of these guys are still starters, maybe 6 if Newton is still considered Patriots starter.
